Anyone installed there own alarm?

I am thinking of trying to install my own car alarm. Nothing fancy. No remote start. Just a nice alarm w/ keyless. The car has the factory one. But I want some range. I can have a friend of mine who owns a shop install it for $260. Including the alarm. I can get the same alarm on ebay for $89. He said he could install it for $110-$120. So basically $200. Is the $120 worth trying it myself. Is it something I could do? Im not afraid to do wiring normally. But an alarm scares me just from all the wires. So who ever has done there own, would you suggest I can do it or have a professional install it and spend the extra money. Thanks in advance.

I am curious about this too since I wanted to get one for my car (good to secure all the $1000’s sitting in the car). I was looking at the remote start alarms so I could start the car in the morning and give it a few minutes to warm up, especially when I get a supercharger here soon.

Pay someone. Unless they make a harness plug in alarm. Usually shops charge $500 for remote start systems. So that is cheap man

There are certain things I just don't have the skills or tools to do myself. Installing an alarm is one of them. A few hundred bucks seems cheap to protect your ride.

let them do it. then if something is wrong, you can go back to them instead of trying to chase it

I mentioned how much I can get the exact alarm for on ebay. That didn't change his price. All he did was went down $20. Which is unusual for him since I always take my cars there for tint and bought my system there. I think I might hold off on it and put it towards something else. lol
