anyone weld their relocation brackets

i've got the bolt on BMR relocation brackets and have installed them but i was wondering if anyone here welded theirs? i figured it couldnt hurt but didnt know if it would be worth it or not.

Yes, but get a good 4 wheel alignment first and make sure the rear axle is square. Much more difficult to make any adjustments in the bracket location after they are welded.

Bolting them on is good, but welding them on is better - especially if you are drag racing at a well prepped track. There are a lot of twisting forces going through these brackets.

After they are stitched to the axle housing give them a shot of paint to protect the raw steel.

Any competent welder can do this job. We've done several sets and it takes about 2 hours to clean, prep, measure, weld and paint the brackets.

Yea my car is at chassis shop and they are straightening and Weldon the rear, making sure all is square and welding the relocation brackets on

What about JB weld? Can you JB weld them? Maybe reinforce it with some good zip ties ? Fuck it. I say staple them.

Edit- if you have BMR's relo's that have 3 adjustment holes, they don't require welding. Older ones like mine are supposed to be welded (they aren't). If you run sticky rubber I would definitely weld them regardless. That is personal preference though. The question I would want to know from BMR is: on the relo's that don't require welding (BMR's latest), how fast have those relo's gone unwelded. They say no need to weld in all but extreme situations. I translate that to 1.3 60 ft times. I doubt you will ever see that on road race tires. Then again BMR should clarify so folks don't have to guess what "extreme" is.

Or weld them and don't worry about it.

im a pretty decent stick and mig welder so this sounds like its worth doing just to be safe and because i have welders and time to kill.

There have been many 1.3 passes on them, NOT welded. As a matter of fact, our very own:

Paul ended up welding them in, and I don't blame him one bit.

Our car, 2011 GT....has made over 130 passes with 1.59 or better sixties....and about 25 passes in the 1.40's without them welded on. (they are currently bolted on)

I do not have an issue with them being welded on, I just recommend that the rear-end be measured and squared up properly when doing so.

We still have not seen a single failure, bend, crack, etc with the newer 3-hole version.
