ARP main stud depth issue

I think you're on to something.

I can't for my life find the article, but if I remember correctly after thinking about it for a few minutes it was or studs that bottomed out which weren't suppose to and were longer than oem bolts, which lead to cracked blocks, and so forth. so to prevent that they dropped a bb down each hole and didn't have a problem.

As for our blocks, our center section of the stud has a chamfer to make a positive stop on the block before the stud is even close to bottoming out, which I have heard of studs wanting to take a side when "hand tightening" them and then once torqued down them moving back center creating a bigger stress load on the stud.

So as crazy as it seems, maybe a bb in the M8 stud holes would work out right, am I sure? hell no, but it sounds pretty well lol
