I heard a grating or scraping noise when I pumped up the brakes with the engine off and the car parked. It occurred to me that I should lube the pins. I did that today, and it made no difference. So maybe it was the ears on the pads that contact the caliper. Did that. As I was compressing the pads, I realized that the sound was from the anti-rattle springs/clips. Not much to do about that.
I guess the good news is that I don't often pump up the brakes.
