Is this SMS that's goin out of business (well not exactly, their just not making cars anymore)? Or SMS Motorsports? I know the actual manufacturer of that hood got stuck with a bunch of unfinished hoods cuz SMS said keep em, we don't want me no more.... This all strangely happened when Saleen left SMS to start up SMS Motorsports....

not sms motorsports. just plain sms. They fucked me over, i bought the hood, i got it, and waited 6 months for the heat extractor vents and the butterfly flaps, then i sent it back, ups fucked the hood up, and ik they fucked it up cuz the driver watched us pack it. sms said they would pay me the remaining and ups would fill the gap. well, after they said that, no contact back whatsoever, no one returning emails or phone calls, to me or my lawyer, so im pretty much fucked

No, SMS is Saleen Motorsports. Steve left SMS to start up SMS Supercars... Kinda jaded, but SMS are his initials.

Your right... Thought Saleen Motorsports was the company, but I'm wrong. Your the third person I heard of getting screwed with that red butterfly hood... Even the company that was poppin those hoods out for them got screwed, left with like 6 hoods with no vent bezels...

Deal gone bad.....

I bought a gt500 posi unit from bolted 3V for $190, seemed like a decent price until I found out you can get them for $225 brand new from latemodelrestoration. Never mind that though, this unit was installed while my engine was being swapped out so I didn't get to drive it for a while after it was installed, finally get to drive the car and it's humming like a cheap whore. Tow it to a REPUTABLE shop that does almost all the work for a local forum I'm on and he tells me that the carrier is warped. Hit up the seller and let him know. Absolutely not willing to do ANYTHING to make the situation better. It's all good though. I've already ordered my new posi unit and plan on being very selective about who I buy from in the future. Thanks to everyone else I bought from during my build that didn't SCREW me.

In my defense they were a great deal for being almost like new. If you go back to the ad and read it i clearly stated i paid a bit less, but the shipping was going to get costly. you make it sound like i made money when in fact i lost. You paid for it on wednesday (shipped on thursday) then you told me you wanted asap. So 190 minus paypal fees, packing cost, 350 insurance, tracking number, and sig required not to mention the extra shipping i paid to get to from me in ca to you in texas in 2 days during the weekend. With that said you keep saying its a reputable shop like a broken record. I have seen many "reputable shops" do their fuck ups as well.

this is exactly what i bought and thats exactly what i sent you.

I think this is a bullshit call out...and I'm not affiliated with the seller or buyer in anyway..

Thank you, thats exactly what i told him when he contacted me last week. glad im not the only one that sees it. :thumb:
1st.. Not knowing the market value vs. new value for what YOU agreed to pay is YOUR FAULT.

i agree

2nd.. Couldn't this "warping" be due to a faulty install?

again i told him the same thing and even my installer said so

3rd.. Some shit is better left to be bought "new"

My $0.02

1. Agreed, it is my fault for not doing the research

2. It was done by a reputable shop, so that's out the window nice try.

once again all you say is hes "reputable" i told you like 2 weeks ago to make a thread about it and see what comes out of it, but you didnt and instead you posted here.

3. You are correct and that is why I'm buying a new one. I learned a lesson. Not to trust used parts.

Say what you want but I got FUCKED in this deal. My understanding is that this was a thread started to express how you felt about a bad deal. That's what I did, if you don't like it tough shit.

many others dont see it that way. i dont sell junk or do people dirty because what goes around comes around. here is my ebay feedback by the way not to mention there is more at 5+ other forums i attend.

I don't understand how a "warped" carrier will cause a humming noise. Maybe if the disks are slipping and your not getting tracktion, then yeah... Bad carrier, shit deal. I've never heard of a "noise" begin caused by warped carrier. Sounds like someone took a nap installing a gear set...

thank you :thumb: kind of odd when the other handful of units sold have 0 issues at all. Mine has little over 10k now along with lee's gt unit as well

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/member.php?u=1891

in all honestly whatever came out of the "thread" you were supposed to make in the tech section i was going to give you some money back. although its been almost half a year since i sold it to you, but since you didnt make it and instead decided to try to burn me i wont be giving your money back like you want to. i dont see why i should get the shaft for someone else mistake if indeed the carrier is "warped"

If you think i screwed you (although i did not) then by all means there is nothing i can do to change that, im sorry. I recently have contacted paypal with my new current address and phone number since i moved so if you want to file that paypal dispute like you have been telling me then by all means go for it. wish you the best of luck with your build..

It's kinda funny that the same exact person installed my new unit and it's perfect. You told me from the beginning I wasn't getting my money back so why not vent a little and let people know that I got screwed. I was talking to another member yesterday who said that you screwed somebody he knew as well. That's neither here nor there. I told you id send you the unit back at my cost and you refused. If you were that confident that it's not the unit you would have taken that deal, but you did not and that leads me to believe that you know this thing is jacked up. It's whatever though. Venting anymore or calling you names and blowing up on you isn't going to do me any good. Yes you did screw me out of $190 that I'll never see again. And half a year? I started my build at the end of January which by my calculation is 3 months ago. So if I bought that carrier from you exactly when I started(which I did not) then it has been no more than 3 months. I will be contacting paypal to try to solve this, unless you want to man up to your mistake and send my money back and I'll send you the carrier. That's your call. Good day.

I have a few things to say about this... First, we all know you didn't really "tow it" to a shop. You drove it there, we get it. This nameless shop, Reputable or not, they're just people, and they make mistakes just like everyone else. These mistakes are more common in gear installs than just about anything else. I have personally installed nearly 50 gear sets over the years, many of them included a new, or used, carrier of some sort. I've never, not once, seen a warped carrier. Not saying it's impossible, just saying it's not likely. I've had to correct a bad install of my own a couple times, and I would have loved to have blamed it on a bad carrier or gears, but I couldn't. The carrier in question is a takeout from a brand new car, and was one of many taken out to have Torsen diffs installed in the FR500S racecars at Miller Motorsports Park. That diff, when removed, was in perfect working order. These carriers are pretty robust and just sitting in a box isn't going to alter them in any way either. It's possible the unit could have been dropped which has the potential to damage the unit. It's possible it was just a bad install (a warped carrier should have been caught by the installer). With these possibilities in mind, there really isn't anyone to blame.

Since I found this novelette I went through and read what, and who, to watch out for. Thought I would add another individual to this rogue's gallery - mustangfan06. I noticed that he attempted to take some folks on this forum and is now banned. Good on ya. I was lucky and did not get burned.

i think its very clear that you are blaming the wrong person, but thanks for trying to burn me anyways. Also please post evidence of such bad deal with the other person you're talking about. i Listed whatever evidence i had along with the sellers opinion and experience with other members that bought this units vs your "reputable" shops opinion. Like i stated in a previous post that i was going to give you money back whatever came out of the tech thread you were supposed to make and see what was the solution, but you tried to burned me here first so i wont be giving your money back, period.

Lee's05GTwow thats crazy! Honestly that unit according to the part # on the box it came in from ford racing was ALOT more than that, and if hes saying its "humming" could be shitty gears or shitty install or both

with that said i will no longer reply or waste space here replying for some stupid. ill leave that for the ones that really deserve to be listed here :thumb: unless you can come up with better evidence about the "other guy i screwed" peace out:thumb:

You obviously don't know shit then. I have pics I took of my car on the trailer as well as a receipt for the trailer rental. You have nothing to do with this so fuck off, as far as you bolted3v, you can go fuck yourself. I've got a claim in right now on mustangfan06, it's amazing to me that you can man the fuck up and admit that you sold me a shit product whether you meant to or not. I know that it wasn't intentional. However, you have made no attempt to make it right. I have since purchased a brand new unit and had it installed. The same gears and everything were used. It's funny how it's perfect now. GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU SHITBAG.
