Not sure on exact HP but I went from 12.7 @ 113 to 12.5 @ 116 with JUST a Bama Tune (60fts didnt change 2.0-2.1.
On top of that American Muscle/Bama has THE BEST costumer service I have ever seen out of any shop/store in my life.

not kaboom anymore, kabama!

What do you mean by that?

Mediocre gains for a tune on these cars.

When Ford issued the TSB about tunes and warranty being voided, it was dubbed the Bama TSB. At the time most of the cars having ring land issues were using Bama tunes. If you search through the forums you will find a discussion where Chris@AM chimes in with a misunderstanding of Lambda and how it is used. Needless to say, a good bit of us deduced that running lean, along with modifying the knock sensors was the cause behind the failures.

Cliff notes - I wouldn't run a Bama tune. Regardless of their customer service and "warranty", trust in their tuning competency is marginal based on their past history with the 5.0.

I have been running Bama since day one. Never had a problem. Then bought a Lund cam tune and it sucked Balls. Made 15-20 less on the dyno and drove like shit (not talking about the lopy idle but driveability in general). And lund wasn't there to fix any of my problems to I went back to Bama. I send Mike a email directly and get a response within minuets.

And I never heard it be called the Bama tsb. My experience has been nothing but good and I dont plan to go els where.

I can not speak high enough about lund. This is really the first time I have ever heard a bad thing about him. He resolved issues for me that 3 other tuners could not fix. He is the best in the business and I would never use anyone except lund

Post #68. You guys should really participate/read more of what is posted on the community forums. ;)

The linked thread has quite a bit of good info in it.

BTW - I'll give credit where it is due as well. AM picking up the tab for the guy on the other forum is good. My only question/issue for the owner would be was he running 91/93 in the tank vs. 87 while running the tune?

There have been plenty of number 8 failures. Most with tunes and a small hand full with out tunes (my buddys car was tuneless) not all those failures were Bama tunes and the fact that some have failed without tunes completely eliminates the fact that ANY tune caused these failures. Ford had some bad motors out there that Im sure were destine to fail either way. Getting a tune probably just made the inevitable happen sooner.

His cousins sister's life partner knows a guy who used to work for ford and that guy had a brother who got this info from his nephew who walked by the ford plant in michigan and overheard the techs.

Now why in the hell would I want to read more or participate more in the community when there is someone like you who can tell me everything I need to know or let me know when i am wrong....wink,wink.

Im tired of hearing about this stupid #8 and who has blown the most engines and blah, blah, blah. Its a roll of the dice and Bama has been good to me so I would refer anyone to them. Im just gonna enjoy my problem free bundle of joy until she poops on me.

My bama tune was great. I loved it, I like my cammed lund tune even more. I also cant say for sure how much hp I picked up, but see my sig for what I ran.

AM has one of the best prices on the SCT handheld anyway. Why not buy it there AND get the free tunes? Then you can always move on to a different tuner if you want, and you still got a deal on the handheld. Thats what I did, really helped me decidie which bolt ons I wanted without paying for retunes along the way.

x2

I could careless about the number problems. Its all the but hurt guys out there that think Ford is the best thing in the world (which it is) but be realistic. They make mistakes. They had some bad motors floating around that popped with all sorts of venders tunes.

Bama has been by my side since day one.

I went back and re-read that thread start to finish. Couple of things come to mind.

1. Never got the datalog answer so I am guessing no.
2. Did the owner always user 91/93 octane in the car?

This may have been that 1 in 60K kind of deal where there was a legitimate issue but as others have stated, we would all like to know what preceded it. It is unrealistic to think we will get all the info needed to review and some will take it at face value while other's will not.

Either way, back on the original discussion, 99% of 5.0 cars with ring land failures are caused by bad tunes.

Really?? This again.

You really should temper down. Not adding anything to your credibility.

I believe you and I have met in person before Dan. Dyno day last March at Colvin's? Does that ring a bell? The guy who tunes my car was with me as well and believe I put down the best 5.0 numbers of the day by a good margin.

It's your business if you want to run their tunes. I certainly will not be using them. If someone were to ask me which canned tune I would choose, it would be in order of:

1. Lund
2. VMP
3. Livernois

Notice no BBR or Bama on that list and I have my reasons.
