I'm looking at both the cast Iron and the Alum. Ford Big Bore blocks, what I need to know is what mods do we have to do to get them into the S197 chassis? from what I read, the Alum block does not have the the water passages for the heater core finished, and the Water pump area is smaller then the 4.6, (impeller hits) what else needs to be done to the alum "cammer" block?
What about the Iron block, same things need to be done? or is it more of a drop in?
what about motor mounts on both, are they the same as the 4.6? Thx

livernois builds a big bore aluminum block starting with stock aluminum blocks...aside from the cast iron blocks also

scroll down to the bottom of the link. lots of money for a fully built shortblock...i assume a production block is a stock block anyway..

Livernois, JDM, fox lake, all build them, I sure other will build them also, but I'm not sure about re-sleeving the stock block, I need more info, I'd hate to spend that kind of money to have a sleeve leak.....
soemone out there knows... come on, spill the beans...

sleeving the block is not a good option. its expensive.

Best bang for the buck is the iron boss 5.0 block.

I keep thinking I should buy the iron block and slowly accumulate parts for it.

I wonder if a 4.6 iron block can just be bored to 3.7/94mm?

I am going to pick up my iron Boss 5.0 block today so I should know exactly what it takes to make it work in the next month or so. Hopefully someone else who is running one will speak up and tell us what needs to be done (if anything) aside from the motor mount adapter plates.
