Looking good, Don! It sucks that it's raining today, though.
It hasn't rained much here at all... just a light drizzle now and then. I did find out that the first two foundations were in fact being poured today. At least that stayed on schedule! :beerdrink: Maybe ours will get done on Tues or Wed!

Don: I haven't been following this thread from the begining, but having felt the sadness back when, I'm also feeling the excitement of the new place and wish you and Donna the a speedy return to having and staying in your own place.:thumb:

Pretty impressive how all those other houses are already rebuilt. Your neighborhood came back quick.

None of those across the street burned. Here is a pic from about the same angle taking in Oct 2007. Next time I'm over in that neighborhood, I'll snap a few pics of some of the new houses, as well as some partials. I'd guess it is about 35-50% rebuilt now.

I don't know if I ever posted this aerial photo before. It is cropped from a much larger one. This is a shot that shows my immediate area, just days after the fire. My house is the one outlined in red. You can see how the fire was just jumping around, without any way to predict where it was going. Our street was the hardest hit in SoCal... 29 homes just on our road alone. And hundreds more in the surrounding neighborhood.

In my business, I read a lot of contracts and need to compare Force Majeure clauses between the company I buy LNG cargoes from, and the company I sell them too. Force Majeure typically includes "Acts of God" in it's definition.....one look at that pic and how the fire jumped around, and it puts "Acts of God" in a whole nother light...

The winds were howling that morning, and embers were flying everywhere. There was no way firefighters could keep up. It was insane.

But, on a more positive note, the latest weather forecast is looking good for us to get a concrete pour done this week!

I found out from the builder today that the concrete is scheduled to be poured on Friday. Let's hope it stays on schedule. :popcorneat:

That aerial photo is something to behold. If we didn't know it was a fire that did all that damage, I would swear it was a small tornado, skipping around.

Good luck with getting the concrete poured this week Don. Be nice to be able to "walk through the house" next week. :thumb:

I noticed that comparison as well... just hit and miss.

And if the concrete doesn't get poured this week, it won't be due to weather. The forecast looks great.
