Hey all, I am new to the Mustang world and have a question about exhaust. I recently installed the Borla S Type axle back, and now I am considering changing over the over axle pipes. My question is, is there any real difference in just cutting out the resonators on the stock system and replace it with straight piping or just installing the aftermarket borla over axle? Any advice is appreaciated.

My car was rear ended in an accident. The Ford dealer, with the intent of going the extra mile replaced my borla stinger axle back with a stinger cat back. For all the quality of the pipe I can't get them lined up perfectly like before.I'll adjust it and it'll stay for a day or two. That's all. The damage was all cosmetic so I'm confident my frame/unibody isn't bent. But if I could do it again I would've told the repair facility to get factory pipe and new stingers.

The S-type with resonator delete and factory h-pipe isn't the best sounding. Some might say it's raspy. To me it sounds like an old Chevy pickup with blown out glass packs. I have an FRPP x-pipe with my S-type resonator delete setup and it sounds fantastic. Not as loud as the h-pipe but much cleaner sounding.

Cost me next to nothing since I had left over 2 3/4" from my wifes OE truck exhaust and I welded it myself. A muffler shop shouldn't be too much either. Cheaper than buying over axle pipes I'm sure.

There is noticeably more volume with the resonators off.

Adding an aftermarket H pipe would make it even deeper as an X is inherently more raspy, while an H is deeper...

Any chance you have a vid of your setup? I was thinking of doing the EXACT same thing, but was curious what it would sound like.

Sorry I don't.

Pretty much just sounds like the Borla S-type catback. Doubt it sounds any different at all since they both have an x-pipe and no resonators.
