Brake resevoir sensor

Has anyone replaced their brake fluid resevoir sensor? IS it on the resevoir or is it in the harness or what? I went up to Ford Service and they told me it was part of the resevoir but didn't have a diagram and after looking at the resevoir I couldn't find it. The only removable part I could see was the harness plug, which I don't think would be considered a sensor?

Anyone got a repair manual or familiar with this would be greatly appreciated because I've been trying to get this done for awhile..

You can get the sensor by itself... Click on BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY on this page... and then on the right side, click on the callout number 2L414

That looks to me like what the harness plugs into doesn't it???

So do you just unplug harness and grab on with a pair of pliers and pull it out of the resevoir???

Thanks for the great specs and drawing, just wish I knew how to get it out and if the part is actually what the harness plugs into because there's nothing else on the resevoir...

Guessing youd have to drain resevoir down below that point (if the sensor goes through the resevoir and makes contact with actual brake fluid) and hope not to get any air in it . And what about sealing it, seems like it could be a potential problem with leakage etc. Do you know if this thing goes into the actual fluid or not?

Like you mentioned, I would assume that all you would need to do is to unplug, and pull it out, or unscrew it. I never paid attention to it... I can really go look if you need it.

And all you would have to do is siphon out some fluid, remove and replace the sensor. As long as you don't touch the brake pedal enough to push air through the system, you won't have to worry about bleeding the system. Just refill it with new fluid to the proper level.

I think I will syhon enough fluid down to the sensor level and seeif I can see anything down there, maybe there's an obstruction on the end of the sensor causing it to function erratically and maybe by refilling it with some new fluid it will not set the dash warning off which only happens periodically. Really appreciate all your help and will post results. I seriously don't feel good about pulling that thing out being unfamiliar with it and worried about the new one leaking and not sealing.
