Brakes creaking

Little back ground on the issue.
I had this issue about a year and a half ago where when I would come to a stop the front passenger side caliper would creak and loud. I could have the car shut off and press the brakes a few times to replicate it too. It did not change how the car would brake. It didn't pull to either side and even after fixing it I did not notice a change. I pulled the caliper off the car and attempted to service it. This was my problem before and I replaced the caliper and everything brake hardware wise on that side of the car in March of 2014. That piston would not move. Stuck like a son of a gun.



Fast forward to this week. The problem started again, and on the same side. Again no issue with braking the car. It stops fine, and doesn't pull from the driver side having full caliper use. My problem lies in what is causing these to fail and is it avoidable by something I am doing or a component I use on the braking system? The car has stock type rotors, oem hardware, and EBC redstuff pads on it.

I do have a serious issue with these pads dusting. I contacted EBC before and they sent me a new set, after a bit of bickering, that dusted just as bad for 1k miles then stopped until a month ago and are dusting like crazy again. This is a week's worth of build up from the redstuff pads which EBC told me just tend to dust a lot.


If I have left anything out, which I probably did, let me know. Thanks in advance for any help.

Is there a rubber seal left on the piston that is out

There was when I took it off the car in March 2014. They were not damaged on that caliper. I have not removed the caliper on the car now to attempt a repair yet to know of the seal condition. This picture was for reference to the original time I replaced it. I still have new pistons, seals, and all new hardware to rebuild my current caliper when I get the chance.

I have a set of stock caliper's off my car if you want to replace the whole unit. First time they've even been off the car, they have about 50k/mi on them, only DOT3 fluid.

Pretty sure based on your description and how you can replicate it I have the same issue. Brought it up with my mechanic and its the stupid wire clip rubbing on the outside of the caliper housing, I didn't believe him as it almost sounds like the caliper is cracked and metal creaking when you build pressure in them.
Nope we replicated it on the lift and its the stupid clip, you can grease it and it goes away and comes back.

Also grease( use a synthetic caliper grease) where the pistons/caliper touch the pads to allow some movement,that can cause some noise also.

surprising isn't it, it's such a loud creak and to be a little clip rubbing blew my mind
