Buying a new 5L

Hey guys. I just sold my 04 Cobra and I'm looking at ordering a new 5.0
I have two questions

First I'm debating between a 6 speed manual and an auto.
Secondly, are the transmission issues fixed as of yet?

If you believe everything you read on the internet the tranny issues still exhist with the 6spd manual even on the 2012's.

I wouldn't let any of those problems deter you from getting a 6 speed. With the brand new 2012s a lot of the issues have been fixed.

I'd buy the auto and then get a torque convertor and a tune for the transmission. I believe that the auto is superior now, unless you need to rev to match downshifts.

My 2012 has been fine so far. 6 speed manual = more fun. The clutch action is much easier than previous generations, so it would be fine as a daily driver even in heavy traffic. My fiancee recently bought a '07 SGT and said she was jealous after driving my 2012 GT. The SYNC system with your bluetooth phone puts an end to, "Hold on while I shift." If you commute decent distances with it or just don't need the thrill of shifting anymore, then get the slush box.

Why can't you have a power adder with a stick? And there's nothing wrong with DDing a stick car. It's easier with the new clutches. It's like driving a Honda.

Eh, you can. It's not illegal lol. Traction is a little easier because the tires aren't shocked as much, faster shifting than a human without missed shifts, loads the engine better and spools faster if it's a turbo car. It gets hold clutching all the time even if it's easy to me. I'm getting old though. lol

those who say an auto isnt fun are lying to themselves.. my auto is a blast to drive and just as much if not more fun then a manual. when im racing and other people are missing gears... or clutch pedals sticking to the floor. im flying by. I had a black 2011 manual and it was in the shop more then at home cuz of drivetrain issues. I traded it in on my auto and it hasnt seen the shop other then an oil change.

2011 and 2012, Both 6 manual and no probs. The 2011 is running mid 11's.

I agree an auto is a plus on the drag strip, but not on a road course. To each his own on the fun thing. I drove only autos for over 20 years, and then a few years ago I found out what I had been missing all that time in a manual. I will never go back to an auto in a Mustang unless I just can't drive a stick for health reasons.

If tuned properly a very good amount.

no problems with my trans yet, it's not as smooth as the old 3650 but oh well. An auto would be the best bet at the track but would be extremely boring on the street IMO.

Is the Boss 302 manual trans the same one thats in the GT's?

Pretty happy with my M6. Had the loose pressure plate bolt problem at 7k miles. Been good since the new bolts went in. Got a Barton shifter and bracket on it, shifts good. Stock clutch holds up well. Mine looked new with 7k miles on it with having 580 rwhp pushed through it. These trans are tough. Get whatever ome you want and enjoy it.
