clanking, shuffling card noise

Ok the best way to describe the noise is if you go to youtube and search livernois 3v lockouts. It makes the exact same noise, so I decided to put phaser lockouts. While I was at it, I checked all the followers, lash adjusters, the whole show. I did everything to the T, torqued everything down etc. There is no scratches, or anything on the cam lobes. I'm getting pretty dam pissed I can't figure it out. It appears to be coming from the top. I first thought it was the intake, but after looking at the video on youtube, I was sure I was that.

Now, if I haven't tuned the car to lock out the vct, will it still make the same noise, even thoughtthe lo,kouts are installed?

Another thing, could it be the cmvps" butterflies, that maybe one broke loose?

Please help, I really want my dd back in, lol. Also I installed a turbo, but the noise started like 5 days after the install and initial tune.

Does anyone know if the vct will still sound like a diesel if lockouts are installed, but NO TUNE has been set to lock out the vct.

You need to tune for it otherwise it will keep looking for the 60* (or whatever the total is) of adjustability.

I was really hoping that was the case. My tuner will head out tonight to retune it for the lockouts. I really hope it fixes the problem, or I will have no choice but to strip my car and sell all the aftermarket parts and buy a car I can't mod, lol.

I know the feeling...I had a 2001 WS6 that spent more time at the dealer then at my house so I put cars down for a little while. Finally picked it back up and this lateset project makes me reconsider my decision...

Yea it seems like a never ending journey to have the car running right. Its been thing after thing, and its draining me and getting me dicourage about the whole moddng thing.
