Clutch ..time for a change ?

… installed the old clutch combo - to compare the numbers .
Result : with the used Valeo Set up from the factory the preload is 0.840 inch / 21,34 mm in this case the steel fingers are looking over the top of the clutch because the clutuch plate is worn .

Looks like I need shims
to bring the preload up to an inch . Hope that summit has 1/2 inch spacer / shim .
If I use this one i am at 0.940 inch /23,88 mm

Longer screws are the smallest Problem we habe billions of metric stuff here

There are 3 shim sizes readily available in .060" increments IIRC.
I ended up with the thickest one.
Based on the travel of the throwout bearing, this still put me at the end of travel of the hydraulics. I could have put in a 1/2" shim without any issue.
** Make sure the TOB is centered, the shims raised it past the machining on my trans. I had to use longer bolts, and put a piece of rubber hose (the thicness of the TOB flange) on the bolts to center the TOB. Some masking tape would probably work also.

Summit has a 0.500 inch spacer kit … from quarter master .. incl ss line and longer bolts . I think i will buy this kit ..
So the total preload comes out aprox . 0940 inch

Quarter Master Kit is on the way to Germania... and some other stuff -FR Bolts for clutch and flywheel...
