So about 5 years ago I did a clutch job on my car (new flywheel, new crank bearing, Luk clutch kit with ARP bolts, new slave cylinder, braided clutch line) and also installed a DSS aluminum driveshaft with red loctite on all the bolts.

In the past couple years I have noticed a "tick" sound from the clutch when I start from a dead stop- sometimes once, sometimes twice.

Any idea what could be making that noise?

Did you shim the new slave cylinder? I wonder if it has some room to move around?

A bone stock clutch kit ( like LUK , Sachs , Valeo ) don‘t need any shims .

What is about the sheet metal between the flywhell and the engine block ?

I have exhaust leaks but that is definitely not what this is.

I had a rattle in the engine shield when I first got the car but I fixed that a long time ago.

I think I did use one shim but I don't remember. I had posted a thread on here about it and got all the measurements.

My dodge truck had that happen some time ago. The pressure plate was coming apart. I ran it till it let go.

I meant to say friction plate. The retainers that held the hub springs in place were plastic. I didn't use that clutch brand again.

U-joints will often click when they start to fail. Could that be what you’re hearing?
