I picked up a 2008 ford mustang bullitt, basically a Gt with a different look, its the 4.6l v8 with a 5 speed manual. I recently started hearing some noise that sounded like grinding down near the clutch/flywheel area, pulled the trans threw a Luk clutch kit from napa in it. Put it all back together bled the system and went for a drive. Im still hearing the same exact noise when driving, the noise tends to intensify when I let off of the gas pedal. The sound does not go away when I push the clutch in. Im lost, I replaced pilot bearing, throwout bearing, pressure plate and clutch plate. I cant wrap my head around what im hearing, the pedal feels fine, its going into gears without problem. Its just noisy.. any pointers on what to look for would be wonderful!

I see you say it intensifies. If you apply slight pressure on the pedal does it go away? Are you 100% sure you got the kit for your 08? Shows 05-10 are the same. If you possibky got for an 11-14 that might be different.

@ Christian.. there is a TSB about this issue. The problem is the "plate" which sits between the engine and the tranny.. Some 4.6 have the problem.....others do not. I had a 2008 Bullitt..no problem. And my 2010 the same - no problem. Both are MTs

Can you possibly provide a link to the TSB?

"Ok. So i finally fixed this issue. It was the separator plate. I just took the two bottom bolts out bent the plate away from the transmission housing(just a little gap) and stacked two brass washers between the plate and the house and replaced the bolts. Problem solved"

form a member of another Mustang forum... he has a 2006 4.6 .. but the problem exists from 2005 on..till the coyote showed up.

Will look /search for the TSB ..I know there is one...

Can confirm, I did the same fix on my 07 and worked like a charm.

Is there any way this issue can make a clanking when shifting?

Is installing a washer at each bolt really how it is fixed? That seems really sketchy.
