How do I get the crank pulley off a coyote?

Yes the bolt is out of the center lol. There's no holes for a bolt type puller and I dont wanna bend it up with a hooky type.

You need to use a 3 jaw puller.

The thing to remember is, don't let the center "bolt" rest on the end threads of the crank snout . You'll fuck them up and won't be able to get the crank bolt back in.

Stick an old extension in the bolt hole in the snout and let the "bolt" bear on that.

You could also thread the bolt back in just enough for the center "bolt" to have something to rest on. You should be able to get it most of the way off if you run into a bind. Just slowly unscrew the crank bolt if necessary. Just don't go too far. You should be able to get the pulley off by hand after that. But pretty much what george said as well. Just another idea you can try.

Off topic, but I see you avatar pic....did u grenade it?

Yeah my number 4 rod went through the side of the block. I'm pretty sure its got some cracked pistons too but I just got it out of the car a couple days ago and I'm (obviously) still taking the motor apart.

Cheap shitty 3 jaw puller I rented from Autozone worked fine, I put a 3/8 to 1/4 reducer on the end of the crank for the stud to push on, came off pretty easy. Got the timing cover off then I had shit to do.

Gonna pull the chains/cams off tomorrow and I can get the heads off.

I didn't make a thread about it yet because I want to have it apart and have pics of everything so everyone can see how bad this shitty tuner fucked me. :dead2:

I didn't half ass anything. And I'm sure you do want the whole story since you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Doesn't need to be any drama. I didn't make some big post about how he blew my shit up (although I certainly can, I just hadn't written him off to do the right thing). I just asked some questions along my road to fixing it, and people want to know why. It's pretty basic.

No different from anything else with cars, some people have good experiences some have bad. He's a local tuner, so that basically means that anybody close enough to his shop already has an opinion, and everyone else is too far away to give a fuck.

My car ran for 3 months and over 1000 miles on Kenne Bells mail order tune, and it lasted 1 week of driving and less than 100 miles (except for my drive home which didn't involve any beating on it due to a CEL and part throttle surge) on his tune and blew up. Nothing changed but the dyno tune, and his tune was slower than Kenne Bell's. I don't see any drama there, just a bad tune.

Because Jeff couldn't get my car to run right he "borrowed" Kenne Bell's tune I guess you could say. He sent the hypertech file to SCT and had it converted. He mushed the two tunes together since his DBW settings wouldn't work, it had his fuel and spark and cam timing values with Kenne Bell's everything else. He left the rev limiter at the "street tune" level we agreed upon for my street driving (7000). I moved it to the "performance tune" level we had agreed upon (7500) because Jeff got mixed up in which tune he sent. He knew I was taking it to the track since the falling on its face only happened there.

Jeff pulled my car to 7456 rpm on the dyno sheet he printed for me. Even though his tune "made 20 more hp" than Kenne Bell's, he only pulled their tune to 6800 for the comparison. His torque under the curve was much higher due to cam timing adjustments, although the car was slower with his tune than with Kenne Bell's.

Jeff also knew that I moved the rev limiter to his "performance tune" setting before he asked me to data log a 1/4 mile pass or something just like it, which is the reason I was running it all the way through the RPM range in the log, so he could see everything. Also the data log shows the rod broke at 6,800 RPM.

Anything else you want to know?

Did you get the crank pulley off? I tried the 3 jaw puller and failed. Went to Autozone and got the Chrysler harmonic balancer puller and it worked perfectly. Go ahead and think about how your going to install the balancer now. The threads are pretty deep in the crank.
