Meh I dunno. The danger zone before you build it is only about 100whp more on the coyote car. 100whp is nothing to sneeze at I know but it's nothing ridic.

I do like the 6r80 though. Blows away the 5r55.

I have so much money dumped in my 07 that we are now life partners. I still love the car but I am waiting on the 15' to be released and see what happens to price on the shitty "old" 14's lol

Hell, if the 15 is half of what it is cracked up to be I may be able to get over the ugly. I dated a chick in college cause she could suck a mean dick but would never have taken her to the reunion lol :bonebh:

Next to nobody can say that they still own their first car years and years down the road.

I wanna be able to say I do.

05 is going nowhere.

I was about to order a new 15 and sell my 3V, and then I had a change of heart - ripped the motor out and im starting to build it. Financially - its much cheaper on my wallet this way, and I have a love for this 3V...

but every day I see pictures of the new 15, I feel like I made the wrong the decision... oh well. hopefully when the car is driving and I have a fun car I wont feel that way any longer.

I'd go 7-10k into a paid off car for building the motor rather than put that money as a down payment to get a new stock car.
but that's just the modding thing in me.

^^^^ hahahaha, I chuckled for a good 30 seconds. Anyways, I would recommend you do the same thing I done when I was thinking aobut trading, go take one for a test ride or if you can find someone with a new one with just a tune to try it out to see what you're getting into.

I honestly didn't think I would trade when I went to look at one but the dealership offered me full retail value out of my car (it was clean and did have a supercharger on it but still, full retail) and I got theirs for about $7k off of MSRP. Me personally, I don't miss my old one, the new one just feels more refined and the power is great. It's an auto and it will squall the tires going into 3rd gear at 70+ mph.

I entertained trying to sell mine outright but I would have probably not made much more (I got 17,500 out of mine on trade and it was a 2008) than they gave me on trade and I would have had to worry about some guy taking it out and hotrodding it, blowing it up, then trying to come back to me saying I sold him a crap car or something lol.

It was gonna be more than 7-10K to build my 06 or I would've kept it. I needed a new blower, shortblock, fuel system, and transmission. F that.

Feeling like parting ways with mine too. I am the second owner and it has 44000 miles...just appearance and bolt ons. Just dont find myself driving it as much and with effin traffic where i live it just isnt fun anymore. I have 36 ft toyhauler and quads for playing and thinking about selling off the GT and buying a couple street bikes for me and the wife to ride and haul in the back...or maybe even a Can Am Spyder ST. Just something different. Maybe its my age LOL, turning 54 in a couple days...

If the car is paid off I would slap a DOB kit on it have some fun! I would rather have a blown car thats paid off than picking up another payment.

Or since you are in Cali, get an FRPP supercharger kit. 50 state legal!

I'm about to jump in that pool. Ever since this bastard car has been paid off, I have extra money... I've paid off some debts I had here and there but have been quietly taking funds off the books the old lady can't track...lol Should have something going for a nice b-day/Xmas gift for me...

Yeah, boost would definitely bring back the magic, I'm just hesitant to do anything because it wouldn't stop at a blower. I'd feel better running a forged bottom end with boost. Because I do live in the lovely state of California, I feel my boost options are limited and as this is my DD, I can't afford downtime. Let's say if I did have another car in the stable, I could tinker on the Mustang much more...

I had a paid off, lightly modded 07 GT/CS Vert that I LOVED!!!!! Absolutely no plans for trading it. Then the convertible top started leaking and I shopped around for replacement costs. After weighing the options, I decided to go ahead trade it in on my current 2013 GT instead of spending nearly $2K to have the top replaced. I have no regrets, and don't even mind the car payment. If you go 5.0, you will NOT be disappointed.

But if I were in your shoes, I'd hold out a little while longer and jump in a '15.

Rehagen Racing is blowing out Whipple/ Ford Racing blower kits and the ProCal tune is 50 state legal. The stock boost level will still be plenty safe on the stock engine components.

I think thats an awesome kit, lots of room to grow too. You can pick up the FRPP big boost kit that comes with an IC, smaller pulley, and an updated Pro-Cal tune (still 50 legal). I really considered getting that kit, too bad its not IC already other wise I would have busted out the CC.

I cringe at all the money I have lost in depriciation on new cars. First massive mistake was a new LandRover, second was a loaded suburban and third was a BMW 540IL. Between those three cars I "used" up $100,000 in depriciation by the time they were done.. I did keep them till they were high miles and falling apart tho.. the LandRover did not take too long to get there either..

I will never buy a "new" vehicle again. Period.

The only thing that will really retain much value will be the specialty cars like the GT500 imo.

I think guys who want "big power" and start with the 4.6L are a bit disillusioned with what the car is capable of. Sure, if you build the 4.6L it will make power but the real "magic" in the early S197's is the lack of weight and usable power for something other than blasting down a drag strip. OP said you wanted a car that didn't handle like a brick, well make your brick (stock suspensioned 05-09 car) not handle like one. Get interested in a different motorsport that actually can utilize what advantages the car does have.

In other words, stop thinking about blasting down the strip, and start thinking about corners. Go to an autocross event, they are cheap, aren't hard on much of anything on the car and will show you a damn good time with any car you can drive on the street (and some you can't). Being in Kommifornia you shouldn't have any issues finding an autocross event. I promise you it's a damn good time.

With all that said, I wouldn't trade my 3V for a 5.0L... EVER. 2.3L EB or old school SVO Fox, yup, but never a 5.0L. Too much power and weight for what I want to do.
