hi, i dont know if keeping my stock cats with my 3 inch (h pipe to axle back heartthrob) exhaust will cost me a lot of hp. do you know if installing a high flow cat will be alot more benefit?

thank for opinion:highfive:

Word on the street is the hi flow cats won't make much difference over the stock cats. If it's power you desire delete those bad boys.

Is there a considerable increase in sound if deleted? I have Gt500 AB with resonators deleted.

i put an o/r x-pipe on my car with ~5 k miles on it. felt a slight increase in power...hardly any sound improvement though, which shocked me. i thought it would much louder than it was.

If running with a supercharger it's a good idea to delete them. My high-flow cats half melted nearly plugging up the left side exhaust. It took me hours to remove the media and now the car is louder and I picked up considerable power after a re-tune. Of course this creates a problem if you have to pass emissions inspection. In my case the car isn't a daily driver so I keep it under 5000 miles a year to stay emissions exempt in PA.

I just put an o/rh on this weekend with my existing Pypes Bomb a/b & suprisingly it really isnt that loud.

I do still have my stock overaxle pipes/resonators though.

No cats here, Roush TVS, Stainless works long tubes, Gt500 axle backs.
I wouldn't take a chance on plugging up a cat with a FI motor, With FI, a plugged cat could cost a whole motor .

You, sir, have an interesting definition of "loud." That setup should be loud as fuck, especially on a cold start.

Keep the cats! It will be really loud without them but if you desire the loud exhaust note just remove them. Don't waste money on the high flow cats. Just my 2 cents

These 5.0's pick up some really good power when you install an O/R X-Pipe. One of the best $ vs HP gain values out there. Even more so if you have an intake and tune. I kept the stock resonators in the exhaust, but it still made it a little louder. But in a VERY good way! See the exhaust link in my sig.
