Dreaded Sub Pop

I wired in my head unit usin a resistor to avoid the sub pop. I don't get the sub pop when I turn the unit on, but when I turn the unit off or switch between radio presets. Has anyone else had or heard of this issue? I've triple checked everything v. the install instructions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
