Hey all, not an avid forum user or poster so forgive me in advance if this post is nails on a chalkboard to some of y'all - first time here too.
I have a 2014 GT Premium, 5.0L 6 speed with 92 thousand miles.
Car has straight pipes with an H into a Roush axle back (not my doing, was on the car when I got her in case anyone blasts me for doing the typical straight pipe V8 hahaha)
Catch cans on both banks.
Exedy Stage 1 organic clutch with hydraulic throwout and steel lines.
Everything else is bone stock and untouched.
Recently the rear end (I think) started making a squeaking/ squealing sound that gets faster and slower with the cars speed, but I assume is faster than the tires spin but not positive on that. Initially I assumed this is my U-joints going out and needing replacement. However, it only happens on some days, and it seems to go away once I've driven for a bit, say 20 minutes or so and doesn't come back till after the car sits awhile like a few hours, overnight, etc. But will also come back intermittently if I sit for a bit in one spot, like at a drive-thru, with my foot on the brake. I don't think it's in the clutch or transmission as when I clutch in or out, the noise will persist, however it seems to go away once I'm up to speed in 3rd gear or higher. I haven't noticed any kind of crazy vibration or generally clunkiness when driving in any manner, both in town and down the highways out here. There is a sort of grinding sound I can here when at low RPM, but I've figured out that noise is my clutch rubbing at around 1300-1700 RPM when I'm in a gear I shouldn't be cruising that low in. That clutch noise goes away when I clutch in, so no consistent metal-on-metal grind that I can hear in the driveline. I'm putting brakes in the title as well cause I have a bit of squealer chirp in the front left brake, and I'm wondering if the noise I'm more worried about could be my rear brakes acting up in the cold or if I'm on and off them constantly like in stop and go traffic or similar and they're the culprit here. With the drop in temperature in the mornings now, I had figured it was due to that, maybe grease somewhere not being warmed up enough to do its job as intended, but even in the mid-day when it's around 70 outside, it will still squeak/ squeal.
Later today I plan on lifting the car up on a jack (prolly on the differential so it still has the cars weight on the driveline, less y'all have a better spot) and having it put in first gear to let the driveline spin freely after I check for any play on the driveshaft so I can listen for where the noise is coming from.
If anyone has any advice, or similar issue happened, would love to know some good places to start at or things to check out while I'm under it so I can get her squared away before driving 1200 miles home from Kansas in about 2 weeks' time from now.
