Dumb question about orange peel

I've got some orange peel on various body panels. It's not real bad but I don't want to get aggressive with it by sanding it. My dumb question is....since I compound and polish my car a couple times a year could my polishing eventually level it out over time? I plan on keeping my car a long time so that's my reasoning for not cutting down my clearcoat with sandpaper.

The orange peel will never come down with years of polishing, buffing, waxing, washing, etc...

If you do decide to wet sand it at a later time; baby the hell out of corners on all body parts. The paint on your car is its thinnest on corners. It won't that much to expose the primer or sheetmetal there.

I figured as much lol. The orange peel isn't too bad. I can live with it. I don't have the guts to sand it because I'd beat myself if I took it down too far.

You could go over some of the panels lightly with a wet 3000 grit, avoiding the edges, and that would knock down some it without losing too much thickness. Then polish from there.
