I decided I would try something different today on mine. I used optimum waterless wash and a bunch of micro fiber towels. I then hit the painted parts with a cheap ass spray wax from autozone. Turned out decent.

Yeah, i just wash it at the carwash, and just avoid certain things. Like the air filter, and certain electronics. Just don't spray with high pressure into the fuse box. Been doing it that way for 5 years. I did have my alternator go out fairly recently, but I think that was unrelated. Looked brand new still. The alternator in my jeep has been soaked in mud, and washed off multiple times, and still going strong.
