I dont know what the big deal is over this 5.0 engine its just a couple cubes more with 2 more headache cams(plus variable timming). How long have 4 valve heads been out now on the mustang since 96. Equal the cubic inches with head flow and it will run the same if not better than the 5.0. I know some of you will hammer me on this but the 4.6 still sounds better no matter what.

i think the heads are where the big diff is going to be, they are hella nice heads from the factory

lol. Sounds better why? Because you can't afford the new 5.0? That's the only real reason the outgoing 4.6L is better. Otherwise, this new 5.0L is better in every way...And there are several threads that go into deep detail about that.

Well 3 valve heads going mid to low 8s... how bad can the old heads be? I mean come on how many people are going to use the flow potential of the new 5.o and aford it. No my mustang is just one of my play toys. I could buy 10 new ones if i wanted too.

Just because someone has gone 8's with a head that's been out for 6 years doesn't make it better than a head that's been out for two weeks. The 5.0L head outflows the 3V head by a substantial amount. So better? Absolutely.

And sure ya can. I could buy a Bugatti tomorrow if I wanted. It's the internet right, who's to say I can't.

Using that logic the B head that came on the 96 Cobras has been 6's yet they went with a 3V head in 2005. The new 4V is a killer motor anyway you look at it but there is nothing wrong with a nice healthy 3V either as many people on this forum and others have proven. I could't wait to buy one when they announced it but I decided to hang tight, see what people are doing with them, and see if its worth the car payment because I can't run out and buy 10, I could barely afford 1!! :)

they say the 5.0 head outflows the gt500 head as well

I wouldnt worry about it... it was the same back when the 5.0 died and the 4.6 was born... it was oh the 5.0 this and that... its goingto be the same only the other way around

I will say I would have loved to have a 2011 instead of my 2010 but with the deal I got on the 10 it was to good to pass up...

I don't see what all the negativity is about, we all should be applauding their efforts, to be able to run those numbers without diving inside the engine was something unheard of before, the fact that it's a Mustang should have all of us cheering.

I've got nothing against the '11, but I really do love the sound of the 4.6, however, I don't really know what the new 5.0 sounds like either.

Its got a CAI don't know about tuning

I wasn't sure on the CAI so thanks. As stjock said it already had tuning but Evo said they were going to tweak the TI-VCT to further enhance performance.
