Exhaust cutouts

First a little back ground. I have ARH LTs with 1 7/8 tubes with 3" collectors to a ARH 3" off road x-pipe to a 3" magnaflow catback.

I am now installing exhaust cutouts.

OK I know the cutouts should go at the collectors but, what about installing them after the off road x-pipe . What would be the pros and cons of this install verses them being at the collectors?

If i were going cutouts, i would put them in front of the X. At the point were the pipe turns in toward the X connector. When i use to drag race Super Stock, we would extend the collector pipe about 2 ft, it helped on the bottom end.

My issue is there is very little room with the 4r70 trans in there and I am afraid the will be hitting the ground while on the street.

I originally had some before the X and they were under the driver and pass. seat. EXTREMELY LOAD and annoying. They sound much better after the X-pipe. you will like them better there, I promiss

id do it right after the x....that way you get the scavenging. But yea, that would be after your cats i think? which is kinda lame.

The full 3" will make all the noise anyone needs . LOL. I am doing it to better serve the crankcase evac. setup I am running (while at the track)to the exhaust. I would prefer the evac valves be in the collector but, since I have the o2 sensors there that is not an option. I will put the valves just before the cutouts , after the x pipe . May not be a perfect setup for drag racing but, for my use it may be the best for all around use.

What cutouts are those ?

they are DMH low profile cutouts. I had them on when i was bolt-ons and cam. I have a clip with stockmufflers and cutouts. Sounds like this

Mutha Thumpers. I miss them, but I have BBR Stage 2's now. They sound pretty damn mean as well. I'm gonna do a new video this week of the new setup on my car

would cut outs sound good if you still had cats? When i drove to the muffler shop with just the stock catted H my car sounded almost like a 6 cyl. and not very loud at all

not sure on that one. I didn't like the way the h-pipe sounded on my car. I would think that the sound wouldn't be to bad though. Tone quality varies with the length and diameter of the exhaust pipe. I say go for it. just do it after the H

Very nice job with the cut-out Circusboy, car sounded great.

If the cut-out are installed for Drag Racing, and you want it to make a difference in the ET. They should be installed after the cats, at the first bend of the x-pipe, tilted down a little.
