exhaust leak on my brand new o/r-h

Slapped my Lethal Peformance O/R-H on this weekend and kept thinking I was hearing something wierd so I crawled underneath to take a look and found that my driver's side was leaking up towards the manifold. I loosened up both sides, then re-torqued them down nice and even only to hear it and feel it again, I was a little annoyed by this point.

I undid everything and pulled it back off to find a hole where it's welded. I know stuff happens from time to time and I already emailed Lethal Performance to get it fixed but I remembered other people that were talking about the pipe "hissing" and such, just figured I'd toss it out there that you may want to check and make sure you don't have something such as this. Again, this is in absolutely no way an attempt to bash on lethal performance, they're a great company and I've never had a problem from them, just hoping I can get this thing fixed ASAP.

Well, I just sent the email to their customer service, I would "assume" they would jump right on it and fix it since I just got it last week and went for the install this weekend. I think it's pretty self explanatory that it was already there, wouldn't think it would just magically appear lol in 2 days time lol. I'll keep you up to date! I'm pretty quick at taking it off and on now hahahaha.....

I've been all over mine. Must've lucked out because I can't find anything. Still get hissing and the metallic rattle out of them anyway. Hard to hear that outside the car though.

Bought it brand new yep, I kept hearing something and when I crawled under to check I could actually feel it under there. I initially thought I had a gasket leak or maybe torqued it unevenly so took it looks and re-tightened for it to be in the same exact spot, that's when I removed/found it.

LOL... i'm sure every now and then stuff happens, maybe they had one slide by. I'm a little irritated that I had to put it on, then re-torque, then take it off and find it... then was kind of forced to put it back on since it's my daily driver. So when I get the new one I will have to pull it off and put it back on again. They should send me an upgraded stainless one for all my troubles hahahaha. To answer the previous question, yes, it's one of the lethal performance ones. I'm sure I could probably take it to a local muffler shop but that would entail taking it off and getting an appointment which isn't always easy and paying money for something that should have been right in the first place. I'll chalk it up to bad luck, there are even lemon vehicles every now and then, shit happens.

Just as a habit, I've always put a little flashlight behind my exhaust stuff near the welds (headers, xpipe, mufflers).
I've never found anything bad but doesn't hurt.
Sometimes it's hard to notice things like that till it's too late.

Nope, JBWeld is only good up to like 400 or 500 degrees, it would melt right off I had already thought about that and researched it, I wish it were that easy. Well, really I wish it had just not been broken, or that I had looked over it very hard before putting it on.

looks like a design flaw to me. Most pipes don't have the clamp welded on.

i feel ya... i hated putting the midpipe on my '11. it was a pita...

They make 'High Heat' JB Weld that's supposed to be OK for patching small cracks or leaks in exhaust manifolds - I wouldn't trust it to actually hold something together, but as a little plug it's supposed to work.

I'm hoping it works for the tiny crack I just discovered on my PaceShitter passenger side header. If it gets me through one season I'll be thrilled. Next winter the shortblock is getting built, and these PaceShitters are getting scrapped for some decent long tubes.

And I HATE the ball-socket type joint that Ford's have had for years at the manifold-midipe joint. I've fought with them dozens of times to get them totally leak free. I think most guys run around with small exhaust leaks and don't even notice.

From what I can see it looks like most if not all of the ones for the new mustangs are welded like that..... technically I don't think it should get much tension put on it and the H-portion of the pipe moves somewhat freely until you put the clamp on. I think I just got one that slid through inspection or something or maybe it was just really thin in that 1 spot and melted through?
