I should take delivery of my 2013 Deep Impact Blue GT within 2 weeks. I am going to request that they only PDI the motor but not detail the car. I want to go over the car with them and then ask them to allow me to take the car home and do the detailing myself. I don't trust the porters my dealership has especially as picky as I am.

My question is, if it were your car in this color, what would be the order with chemical names please, that you would detail the car for it's first time?

I appreciate the feedback in advance.

Here is a pic of the color

I would like to do all the initial detailing by hand unless otherwise advised.

I'd take it to Seer and let him hook it up!!

But if you're like me that's not a possibility, so I would invest in some zymol glasur or something of similar quality on top of a good sealant.

I would also probably contact Seer or NastyStang113 for suggestions.

If your car was delivered on a train I would Iron-X it and since it's brand new, if it were me, I would probably try one of the nano coatings Seer has gone on about ad nauseum. Opti-Bond, A-Quartz or C-Quartz.

yeah i wouldnt let them touch the outside. almost every scratch i had on my car came from those idiots "detailing" it. I clayed, polished with either wolfgang or bf, and put a good sealant on it. mine stays slick for about 4-5 months. but i should warn, i am no expert.

I'm certainly not an expert either; like Seer or many of the other guys here. However, I would do the same thing as Mystickeith mentioned. I've done it to every new car for the past few years and it works great.

I'd wash carefully (I do the old two bucket method) then dry. I never use anything but true microfiber washers and towels. Then I do a good easy clay of the entire car (currently using pinacle bars because I have 3 left; they work for me).

Here's a short video I did with my latest. Keep in mind here that this is the day after I got her home. Brand new car and the video shows just 2 or 3 passes over a freshly washed car and you can see how much crap comes off the hood scoop alone:

After that I use a good sealant (currently using Wolfgang's 3.0). I apply with a Flex, but you can do it by hand just as well. It takes more time and elbow grease, but not that bad. I then let it cure for 12 hours in a garage before putting on another coat...if I feel like it. I tend to use straight motions/passes versus swirling if doing it by hand. Usually going with straight horizontal passes over the hood/top/trunk and vertical passes over the fenders/sides. I don't know if that really makes a difference, but I do it anyway.

Disclaimer: Like I said, I'm no expert, but this works for me. The finish lasts for several months and stays damned near glass smooth for that long. On a new car I normally do this whole process every 3-5 months unless it's garaged for the winter...depending on where I'm at in the world.

Can't wait to see pics of that thing...Have fun!

Congratulations mate, that's going to be stunning! Funnily enough though, I can't give you any tips regarding your detailing quest ;)
