I am tired of missing shifts in my car(and it isn't a driver mod issue). I am trying to figure out if I should buy an aftermarket shifter or a k-member brace with torque limiters. I really don't mind the stock shifter and am wanting some feedback on what you guys did first or saw the most benefit from. Like i said, I don't mind the stock shifter at all and if I can get away with just the brace with limiters I will do that. I was looking at this ...

The brace and tq limiters will help, maybe a stiffer bushing for the oem shifter.
I liked the stock shifter alot, recently installed a hurst billet though.
I think I could powershift better with the stock shifter though.

I agree, the throw on this stock shifter doesn't seem any longer than some of the short throws I put on my SN95 or NEW Edge cars

My car isn't F/I but when I first got the car, I was convinced I needed an aftermarket shifter with stiffer bushings etc. Instead of blowing $300+ on the MGW, which everyone generally agrees is great, I bought the CHE torque limiter brace instead and got a shift knob that I liked, which inadvertently also shortened the stick a bit.

I think you should get the torque limiter brace first. After I got it installed, I decided that I wasn't going to spend any more money on the shifter. Someone on here had the same conclusion, they went with a Hurst or pro 5.0 or something, they didn't really like it and ended up getting the torque limiter brace and went back to the stock shifter.

Im not FI but i can tell you from experience an aftermarket shifter is not needed to bang through the gears. I have the CHE limiters and prothane bushing kit for the stock shifter. I love it.

Motor mounts will gain you some stiffness. I liked the stock shifter. Went to a Hurst and couldn't shift it fast enough. Went to an MGW for $350 (they are now $250!) and it was the best of the bunch. Then I put a TR-6060 in and started the process all over again, stock to KR to MGW.

You could just save for TR-6060 since the odds are you will eventually get one.

Do you still have the stock ball? I missed more gears when I had my stock ball and the hurst in my car, I replaced everything with the stock shifter and a hurst pistol grip and I never miss gears. I think part of it's how it fits and feels in your hand

I have the motor mounts and they are going in soon. Should add to the stiffness. I have the stock shifter ball, mine is the one that is part of the interior appearance package.

EVERYTHING about the drivetrain is still stock. Will the torque limiters not work with teh TR6060? Can someone please post a link to where you get the bushings for the stock shifter.

thanks for the responses
