no new personal best, but learning occurred :beer:

Northern VA Mustang Club track rental at Mason Dixon dragway. This was my first time out with skinny fronts (15" weld rts with 28" M/T ET fronts)

ran a couple of 12.5's with 1.6x 60's (car 5 in the pic below), and while this doesn't best my quickest run last year at MIR, it does best my runs at Mason-Dixon last year:

I think it's fair to compare the numbers at this track to see the improvement with the 15" skinnies:

Code:
Mason Dixon
date    9/2013     4/2014
  60'    1.777    -> 1.654
 330'    5.186    -> 5.080
 660'    8.067    -> 7.945
 MPH    85.39    -> 85.86
1000'    10.557    -> 10.420
 1/4    12.660    -> 12.517
 MPH    107.25    -> 108.12
per recommendation from stkjock, I used a paint pen to mark my rim and tire to see if there was any tire/rim movement - it slipped 1/8"

I mounted my gopro to my panhard bar so I could watch for tire slip; here's a look at a 1.65 sixty foot run slowed down 8x (I painted a 3" wide white stripe on the inside sidewall):

setup for these runs:
- cj springs
- strange single adj struts set to full loose
- strange single adj shocks +3 clicks from full loose
- UCA in upper hole
- LCA in middle hole on bmr relo bracket
- 4500 rpm launch
- 26x11.50-17LT M/T et street bias ply rear tires, 15psi cold
- full interior in place, gutted trunk
- 302 rwhp

I hope to see a similar drop in times the next time I hit MIR...

Great info, vid and good runs man, 1.65 is a real nice 60.
Did you try any higher RPM launches?

Glad to see your not slamming the wheel like I was lol.
I ended up putting my UCA in the top hole (never moving it again) and put the brackets back on using the top hole as well.
Hoping for something in the 1.65's next time out!

I say you strip the interior next time out :)

My first three runs of the day I launched off the rev limiter (6500) and spun bad, 1.9x sixty foot times. For those launches I was running 18psi cold in the rear tires, and there wasn't really any rubber on the track yet.

I think the sweet spot for my setup will be 14-15psi, with the rear shocks on +3. I hope to be able to launch off the limiter at MIR - that track just flat out hooks.

This fall I plan to lose the passenger/rear seats and run the p/s delete short belt for my hero run.

Here's another vid (that corresponds with the time slip on the right posted above), with an unexpected 'gap cam' where I got the jump on a 2014 5.0 :naughty1:

What rear shocks are you running again?
I just picked up some single adjustable QA-1's to try for the rear.

Good work.

You would love having a good double adjustable out back, like the Viking pieces.

A stick car really needs a double adjustable. :)

thanks Kelly, I've been mulling over those Viking's ever since their release. The $350 question is, as the car sits, how much could I expect my 60' and beyond to improve with the d/a rear shock?

I know there's more in it, and I hope to catch a cool night at MIR soon to best my 12.425 (pre 15" skinnies) before I make any other changes.

I've been looking through the "master 3 link" thread...
I still don't know what a 300-330hp 3v can best for 60 foots, like at what point do we just need more power and it's got nothing more to give in the 60.

I see 1.62x-1.65x as getting real close to maxed out for the setup... have their been any bolt on 3v's in the 1.5's?
It seems people in the 1.5's have FI on their cars or have a 5.0 with 400+hp.

Nice start to the new year, nice job!

As far as 60', I think gt-350r has gone high 1.59 if not then bottom 1.6xx. Don't hold me to that though.
