I made it to Sac Raceway on Saturday February 2nd. It was my first time running at a drag strip ever and obviously my first time with my 2013 GT. Very pleased with the results. I was hoping for a 12.80 and as you can see I hit a 12.74 and a 12.769, so I was very pleased with how I did with the car. I made a total of seven runs over the course of about two hours and they ranged from 12.7xx to 12.9xx and they were all 109.xx mph and these were the best two.

The DA for the first first slip was -288 ft and for the second it was 93 ft. I filled the car with gas just before I jumped on the highway to drive there and I drove about 50 miles to get there so I had well over 3/4 tank of gas when I got there. I did nothing with the tire pressure and I left the spare and jack in the car. The car is a base auto with Sync and that's it. Very pleased. Now I am going to go back on a Wednesday night with some really good air and with 1/4 tank of fuel and take the spare and jack out and see what I can do.

were you there last night?

Nope. I work night shift 7pm to 7am. I wanted to go last night but we have a huge inspection going on at Travis AFB so there is no way I could get away. Probably late this month I will take a day off to get there on a Wednesday night.

Sweet times for the first time out.

I'll probably be heading out to the track tomorrow night and it'll be my first time in a Mustang GT auto.

As of this time, I'm thinking about hitting the TC button twice and getting in advance track sport mode, then putting the gear in sport mode. Of course I'm going to have to play around and find out where the sweet spot is, off idle, 1,000 rpm, 1500 rpm, but I think 2,000 may be high.

What did you do to prepare to race, what driving mode and what gear. I can't compare launch rpm's due to weather and track conditions. Also, did you have any wheel hop?

Lastly, I just got some coaching from my buddy GeorgeInNePa, so I'm about ready to roll.

I tried a few different things as far as launching. First I turned Advance Track completely off by holding the button for five seconds while stopped and my foot on the brake. I didn't even try and use the sport shift mode or whatever it's called. It is too slow to react so to get it to shift from 1-2 and not hit the limiter you have to hit the button at like 5500 rpm and it's really inconsistent. So I just let it shift on it's own. It was hitting fourth gear just before the finish so I did try and get it to lock in third after the 2-3 shift by putting it in sport shift mode and just leaving it in third. That didn't help with anything though. My ET and trap speeds didn't really change.

As far as wheel hop, yes there was some sometimes. It depended on how I launched and how hard I got into the gas right away. The 12.74 I ran I loaded up the convertor on the brakes and floored it right away and it hopped some. On the 12.769 I left off idle and just mashed the gas to the floor and it hopped worse. If I loaded up the convertor and rolled into it there was little to no wheel hop. I also didn't do any John Force style burnouts. I just went around the water box and spun the tires 2-3 times to get any garbage off them.

Hope any of this helps.

Very nice runs. My best stock was 12.8 @ 110. Do you plan on any mods or tires? Tune and tires can get you in the high 11's.

I would really like to do something to it. Nothing major like forced induction right away, although I do have a long term plan of doing some sort of supercharger, probably a centrifugal. I really want to do some rear suspension stuff to it first like control arms and relocation brackets. Then see how it does with the stock tires and some good air. Maybe after that some cat deletes, a CAI and a tune.

The only problem with considering a tune is I have no idea who to go with. I am not worried about losing the engine because any issues with that seem to have been cleared up for the most part. It just seems like for everything good anyone says about any tuner, there is just about as much bad info out there too.

I've never seen anything negative said about Justin @ VMP other than he can be hard to get a hold of. He does a great job on these auto tunes as does others though.

wow.. I'm glad to know there are some members close to where I'm at. I have not hit sac raceway for a long time since I lost my job. Now I'm back to working but trying to get away is hard. Maybe we all can meet up someday close by and hit the track. I got 11s car, but not with me driving it =-/

Great times on a stock Stang. I'm jealous you're already at the track this time of year. We just got some more snow yesterday here but it's raining today to help melt some away.

Thanks. I was pretty happy with the results, especially since I didn't mess with anything before running. It is also great to be at the track in February. I am working at getting some time off work to make it back there on a Wednesday night.

I can hook you up with a discount on all of those parts from UPR Products. Regarding the tune, ours makes a lot of power safely. The funny thing about comparing tunes by their peak horsepower is that it doesn't tell you anything about drivability or longevity. One shop's tune might make a ton of power but have poor drivability and damage the engine if you're not careful. UPR tunes make good power with conservative timing. And we use Airaid CAIs in our CAI/Tuner packages.
