Flip switch chip tuning?

Am I to understand the absolute only way to switch from "Tune A" to "Tune B" is by standard handheld upload method?

I'm getting ready to do a nitrous setup, and was discussing my setup with my tuner when I mentioned a flip switch tune chip, and he says they don't make them for our cars. I'm like, WTF is the point of having power in a bottle that takes 3 minutes to activate. Wouldn't give a shit if I was n2o for track only, but it'd be insane to miss an opportunity to break off a 'vette if the situation presented itself! What, the dude pipes me and I yell back "Hey! Pull over an give me 3 minutes so I can properly give you the what for, and you can pretend you didn't see it comin, okay?!" Please someone tell me it isn't true!!

Years ago...I ran a Switch Chip from Kenne Bell on my 1995 5.0 GT....worked well

Just kinda pulling this out of my ass, but wouldn't it be fairly simple (or not?) to make your own? Just buy a second PCM and build a switch for them, then load different tunes into them and flip the switch when you want the other tune. I don't know if that would work on not since I'm not an expert on them by any means, just an idea.

@Captain - That's not a bad idea, but then you'd have a wiring nighmare getting your harness setup to take from both ECU's.

@Soulman - The old ECU's had a slot for chips, ours don't. I thought maybe they changed the method.

@Nuke - I'll try to contact them but I think I'm just going to hafta live with running less timing up top while N/A. The bottle won't be in the car all the time anyway, it's going to be 110* soon enough in Vegas, and I don't want to have an overheated bottle in my car during the day obviously, so the N/A tune will still be running most of the time. I'm just disappointed they removed the chip feature from our cars.

Yeah but at that point, might as well get an aftermarket ECM and do it that way.
