Fuck this car.

I've replaced almost everything on the front of this damn car, and the steering wheel still shakes bad and the fucking thing still groans.

I haven't taken it to Ford because the groaning sound doesn't happen all the time but enough to bother the shit out of me. And I know they'll blame it on some other aftermarket part I've added.

I have the same groan in the front but it didn't start until I changed my tires. I went from Nitto INVO 235/50/18 to Riken Raptor 245/40/18, I thought it was the tires but after reading through this thread I'm having 2nd thoughts.

I had a nasty groan that almost had me convinced the car was going to fall apart. On the way home the other night my steering didn't want to return to center either. While doing my oil change I threw a light coat of oil over the heim joints(bumpsteer kit) like I normally do with a little brush. Damn near shit myself when all the problems were instantly solved.

Well my car makes the noise 24/7 now; sounds like an old creaking door in an old house.

Yesterday I got under the car while I had a friend rock the steering wheel back and forth to pinpoint the noise. Found out the noise is coming from where the steering shaft mates to the rack and pinion. I'm taking it to the dealership next week. Hopefully they will fix the problem under my extended warranty coverage.

I'm actually really curious as well, hopefully your diagnosis will help the rest of us too.

Well what they found was that one of the bolts on the driver side A-arm had loosened up where it mounts to the body near the steering rack. The guy who worked on it stated that he tightened the loose bolt beyond Ford specs and that he's seen new Mustang's come in with a similar problem. He thought it might have been the tie rods when he was using the stethoscope but since the car was so loud it was hard to pinpoint the noise.

He also tightened up the steering rack.

So now the creak is gone, but I still have a slight vibration in the steering wheel. I'm thinking that it might be related to the tires being unbalanced even though I've had them done twice; however, my trust in the tire shop I've been using has pretty much diminished. It seems the people working there have become incompetent.
