front runners. which ones?

ordered the Jegs wheels (pro star replicas) in 15x4 for the fronts. Im going to wait on the rears until I can figure out what option will work best. Anyways, I already placed my order for Mickey Thompson 26x7.50-15 sportsman front runners, and I am second guessing myself. Should I have gone with the ET Street 26x4.50-15 front runners? I plan on running ET Streets on the rears once I figure out what offset will work best. I do plan to run these on the street sometimes, but not much. Maybe just to and from the track (5 miles tops). Which ones would you recommend? Im pretty anal when it comes to matching tires, and I know the ET streets would have the same tread pattern, but still....a 4000lb car on a 4.50 wide front tire kind of scares me. Thoughts?

I went with the Moroso PS2 28X4.50X15. You won't have any problems driving on the 4.50 wide if your only going 5 miles to the track (we should all be that lucky).

I drove 174 miles one way to the track with the 28X4.50X15's, mostly freeway miles, so you will be fine.

I just don't like the look of the 26 tall on the front, unless your lowered. That size tire just looks too small on our cars IMO.

FWIW, I originally had the M/T front runners, then switched to the Sportman tires. I didn't like them as much, and went back to the ET Fronts.

I also ran a 26" tire previously, and didn't like how short it was. So now I run the 27.5x4.50-15 M/T Fronts (#3009). So far I like it the best.

The ET Fronts are lighter (13 lbs each vs 20 lbs), plus they just look better to me. I also never drive with them on the street, so the tread on the Sportsman tires is irrelevant to me.

Yeah, that 7 lb difference was what helped me make my decision. I'll drive mine to and from the track. I'll take the chance of getting caught, I guess.

It cost me about $750 total. They just bolted right on, no modifications. I bought the wheels from someone on another board.

I made several changes to my car between the time I ran with my Nitto DRs and switching to these tires. I gained over 1 second with all the changes, but I would attribute about 1/2 of that to these tires. I could not launch my car without spinning through 1st & 2nd gear with the Nittos. Now part of that, I'm sure, is that I'm an inexperienced drag racer and I drive a stick. So someone that knows how to launch on less sticky tires would probably not see as much of an improvement.

I use the MT sportsman's and they are a little heavier than the front runners but the extra weight is worth driving on the street to me. Especially since changing 4 tires at the track is a PIA.

I've put over 2000 miles on mine with bogarts with street driving. Lowered or not, if you are running a 28" or bigger tire on the rear, I would for sure get the 28" front tires. It sits to low in the front with a 26" and will hurt your take-off's.

I will probably have these wheels already mounted on the car most of the race season and I only live 5-10 miles from the track. Do you think it would be a good idea to run the tubes, or do I not have to necessarily run them? Cuz those bastards are expensive for a damn inner tube!!!!

I like the MT 28x11.5

However, I run the Goodyear dragway specials (29x12-15) on the bogart 15x10 welded RT's.

For the front I run MT sportman radials 28-15 on the bogarts.

do you have to run rim screws or not? or is it one or the other (rim screws or tubes)? id rather not run rim screws, id rather just buy the tubes if that will take care of it, but I also dont want the tire to spin on the rim (which is probably wont since im still NA w/ basic bolt ons and cams) any suggestions?
