So I've been told by Many people from this board that the front strut design is different for these cars. Are there any aftermarket shock kits out that work yet?

Also is there any possible way to modify the front aftermarket shocks for the 05-10 to make them work?

Thanks

I believe you just have to change the upper strut mount

Correct. Unfortunately this 'simple' change will cost you another couple hundred dollars on top of the cost of the suspension. :argh:

I am going to hold out a little bit and see if a direct-fit hits the market soon.

I was told to use a 2005-2009 upper mount with my 2005-2009 d-spec's and that should work. Is this correct?

should be.. the upper mount and top of shock was changed for 2011. the mounting of the strut mount is the same so it should bolt up..

The struts are not different, the upper mounts are.

Apparently I'm one of the few vendors that knows what the differences are and what to do to get aftermarket stuff on the car. You change mounts, but I also know how to install the struts along with the 2011 mounts as well.

It helps when your vendor has a 2011 and has done the work himself. :)

So if I swap the upper strut mount over to the older version, then I can just use the 05-09 aftermarket struts?

Also I'm guessing the 05-09 caster camber plates would also work?

The older upper mounts were prone to early wear and clunking. Best to change to the GT500 upper mounts on the older cars when changing suspension, springs or struts. I wonder if the new 5.0 mount is just a GT500 mount?

No, the 2011 mounts are a different design.

FRPP M-18183-A Retail $66 for the pair. Seems pretty reasonable to me. These are the 07-09 GT500 upper strut mounts.
