I am going to change my front wheel bearings / hub

Bought new ones ( OEM Ford ) but they did not came with the nuts . So I ordered new nuts from RA . But they look different .. The OEM nuts have a kind of a cage ..
and the diameter ( the „ washer side „ ) that attaches the hub/ bearing is a little smaller …

So what should I do ? Using the old ones with red loctite .. or using the new ones ??

Torque is 221 ft lbs … I have a torque tool that van handle this amount..

Thank you in advance for any input

I used the new style nuts when I changed mine not too long ago. No issues.

so you would use the „ golden „ nut .. even if the style is complete different ? The golden one is aftermarket .. not OEM Ford ..

You need to find the ones on the left. The new style nuts have a different thread size than the old black ones. You must have an early model s197 like my 05. They used left over parts from the 2004’s. I tried going to a couple of Ford dealership and even they couldn’t get them. Finally I found them on EBay.

my car is a2010 Mustang... built in June 2009. The old ones came off easy... I was prepared for using a lot of force ( because of the 221 lb-ft torque ) but with my 36mm Nut ( 1/2 inch ) and a 600 mm breaker bar , it was a breeze. Hmmm.... strange story..

The problem is...I am living ( unfortunately ) in Germany. And here is "third wolrd " in case of real Cars. Only European , Japanese and Chinese stuff around....

And the Ford Dealers here... they don´t even have a spark plug for a Mustang

Good luck finding the nuts. If you are able to get the correct torque on the nut. Nothing like Loctite is needed.

… I can torque the „ old“ nuts to 222 lb-ft .. no problem

And I have also a lot of different Loctite here .. from the 243 ( med. strengh ) to 278 ( high strengh )

Made a search in the web …
Looks like The „ one piece nut“ is a spindle killer … Because the tread is sharper . You can use them „once“ - but in that case „once „ means for the next hub change you need a new spindle ….

The old style bearings with castle nut and cotter pun were 10 times better …

FWIW, about 5(?) years ago, maybe a bit longer, Ford replaced the original cage style nuts with the one piece nylock nut as a replacement part for the front spindles. The same nut fits a bunch of Ford applications on the front, and some IRS rear hub nuts too. Current part # W710084-S439. M24x2.0 thread size for reference.

The nuts from Rockauto will destroy the spindle .. only OEM Ford nuts .. old style with cage or new style with „
Loctite „ are the way to go.
The Dorman nut will work once .. but if you need to back off these nuts , they will „ eat“ the thread . Bye bye spindle

If you type in the Ford number in the search field, rockauto shows you the Ford part, so....?

Pretty sure they will be used on European Ford cars also, but my local Ford dealer isn't able to translate the part numbers US->EU AND I'm sure that import with Rockauto will be cheaper anyway :)
One of the craziest was 4 spark plugs NGK for my motorcycle was cheaper to buy from Rockauto than locally in Germany. Total rip off here.

.. agree with you . Germany is lost … failed state .

I called Ford Königs in Heinsberg … last Friday . The parts department guy told me that they need to order the nuts from the US ..aprox . 3+ weeks !!!! for the delivery

Funny thing - Ford Königs is a US Ford Dealer !! Imagine … you bring your Mustang to them ,for a wheel bearing service …

Result : you will be a „ UBER“ user gor the next 3-4 weeks
