I recently installed these cams along with pypes long tube headers and o/r hpipe. Everything has been good so for and the email tune has been great except for idle. When I first crank the car it will start idling around 900rpms and then drop to like 550rpms and eventually stall if I don't give a little rev. Once it warms up it will hold the idle a little long, usually 5-10 minutes and then start dropping. It also drops pretty low when to press the clutch before coming to a stop. Do these sounds like tune issues? I'm saving for a custom dyno tune but want to get the car running in an okay state until then.

Thanks

Im having almost the exact same issue with my mutha thumpr cams. I'm still waiting to hear back from matt at bamachips. I'll probably end up getting a dyno tune in the end.

I would call who ever you got the tune from and just ask them if there is anything they can do to help.

Yes guys, these are all issues in the tune. Ive had my Hot Rods for about 4 months now on a base email tune and my car does the exact same thing as the op's car. Im just patiently waiting to go get dyno tuned to resolve those issues.

Tune is from BAMAchips, got two emails out to Matt to see about getting it tweaked a little. Hoping to get a dyno tune sometime this fall, probably from MPH in Cartersville, Ga.

I installed my hotrods close to 3 months ago. I have not had my tune completely re-worked yet, but I noticed the same idle problem. Strangely enough, eventually it stopped. I believe when the computer is re-tuned, it has the "re-learn" the idle characteristics. If you have not already, try letting it idle for a few minutes with the A/C off, then a few minutes with the A/C on. This seemed to help mine "re-learn quicker.

as far as it nearly dying when i clutched in coming to a stop, i actually had this problem for a while after getting a local tune, but after a month or so of driving it, it went away...and i only had an intake installed...

it is with the tune, I had problems with my tuner getting it to idle. I got another tune from brenspeed and it has been fine since. Had another friend with long tubes have problems when he installed hot rods it was something with the tune having the 02's further back tweaked the tune and has been fine since.

Raised the idle yesterday and it does the samething. Idles fine for a couple of minutes then it will stall. Pain in the a$$ at long red lights! So you think my computer just needs a little more time or should I push for a new email tune? I'm almost at the point of buying a tune from Brenspeed if they can send it to me in a reasonable amount of time instead of waiting to hear from BAMAchips, I heard they are really backed up!

Ive had my HotRods in since June, i got a Dyno tune done for them and i am not expereincing this problem.

Ive heard of tuners having a hard time getting the idle right on these cams, so its even more difficult for an email tuner to get the idle right without the car in front of them. I would recomend a Dyno tune or at least have your email tuner revise it.

Mail order tunes are great but nothing beats a good dyno tune and data log session. No mail order or E-Mail tune can account for every car. Every car is a little different. Dyno tunes, ESPECIALLY with cams, is totally worth every penny. My two cents.

Anytime I reload my tune it does the same thing as described. It usually takes 50 miles or a couple days for the idle to finally act like it should. No matter what I change my idle to in the tune, it'll idle like shit for a day or two.

Thumbs up on Brenspeed! I tried a tune from another vendor first and the throttle response wasn't there nor was the idle. I then switched to Brenspeed and all is well.

you need to raise the rpm for both idles to about 1000 rpm the car will idle a little less than that, like around 850 rpm. i have the bama tune also and this worked for me.

The adaptive learning needs to adjust, give it time if you have not. Everytime you reload a tune or have the ground off, it starts over. I'm having an issue with my idle as well, and was told to just keep trying and letting the car figure it out (drops to much after I rev it a bit, sometimes stalls. Sucks in stop/go traffic / parking lots)
