I ordered a set of Nitto NT05R's coming this week. 285/40/18 which is finally a great size for these cars as they are a bit over 27'' tall.

Anybody have these already? What should I expect out of them on the street, track and with a 00 tread rating will I at least get 5-6k miles out of them?

Also, I'll be putting my almost new Falken Azenis RT 615 up for sale on the classifieds soon. They are 295/40/18...great street tire, but not with almost 600 rwhp, no traction with them.

I have those same tires/sizes on the back of my car. On a 9" rim, fit fine. Street manners are great. I would put them on par with the Racemasters I had on there previously, as far as the street goes. I havent had them on the track yet, it was to cold last month to run.

Btw, I didnt measure them, but they look shorter than advertised. I have some 255/45/18 (27" tire) KDW's on the front, and they look shorter than the KDW's. Could just be the different aspect ratio though.

Looking forward to hearing your results. For me it's between these and the 275/45/18 racemasters.

I have the 305/45/18 NT05R's that I use in the summer. They are a good tire. Street and highway driveability is just like a street tire on dry pavement. They hook up fine at the track. If I could drive them in the rain I'd never take them off.

They are great tires overall. It wont take much or long to get them to the bald state. Hooks great on dry and they arent too bad in the wet either considering all this rain in LA.

Just did the math...

The Nitto's have a 114mm sidewall
The KDW's have a 114.75mm sidewall.

No way to see less than a millimeter difference, but....the first thing I noticed was that they looked shorter than the KDW's.

The only reason I didnt get those again was because of the 28" tall height. I really wanted a 27".

I had some 275/50/18 Racemasters. They hooked real well but wandered a bit going down the highway.

I have the NT05R's coming...different tire. If I can get 5k out of them I'll be happy. I appreciate the comments. I had racemasters, but didn't put them on because they are not as wide as the math suggests and they didn't have a tight bead edge up against the wheel bead. They left a gap that looked like hell. I know they grip like a whore, but I only see the track once every year and a half or so. I was reading a review on the NT05R's compared to Mickey ET's and they did better, but only at low psi like 13 or 14 psi on the VHT surface.

I just ordered these last week. If you go with them too send me a pm. I found an almost 2 year old coupon code that still works. Good for about $80 off a pair.

I wouldn't say sticky. Great tire for cornering. I've got a great deal on a low mile set if you can cancel. Same size, like new, no sidewall scrapes or shit like that. They would be alright on your paxton set up, but the Whipple hits hard down low and breaks them loose instantly.

285/40/18 is just under 27" at 26.98".
