Alright so i bought a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD headunit for my 2005 mustang gt with the shaker 1000. After installing everything with the metra harness with the amp cord for the rca cables(no diodes or 5v resistors) the rear and door subs dont work. I checked and rechecked my wiring and it all seemed good. No matter what i tried i just couldnt get it to work. I unplugged and re plugged the different rca connectors and there was no change what so ever. I'm just stuck at a brick wall and have no clue or weather this head unit is compatable with the shaker 1000.

I had a Sony UI930I aftermarket headunit installed and the installer told me that the headunit needed a resistor to operate because the radio did not push out enough amps to power the sub speakers...

Once he installed the resistor (I don't know what type), the system ran great...

Just a thought!!! Dave

P.S. It has nothing to do with your wiring...

Did you connect the "remote" wire on the Pioneer harness to the metra harness? That's what sends the signal to the amp to turn on when the radio turns on.

Also, the purpose of the resistor is to eliminate the popping noise when the stock amp is turned on by an aftermarket radio. Aftermarket radios operate on 12v, while the stock amp is looking for a 5v signal, which results in a popping noise. The resistor eliminates that, but not having one won't prevent the amp from turning on.

The Metra harness I believe has 2 Blue remote wires. Did you hook both up and put the resistor in?

As stated above the resistor keeps the popping from happening.

Also make sure you have the SUB out RCA's plugged into the harness and that the SUB feature on the radio is turned on.

If you have turn on pop. It takes between a 1200 and 1500 ohm traitor in line of the remote wire. Also. You guys don't need to buy the expensive harness you can use the cheap metro one and just run switched power to the fuse box and save about 110$

I bought the $10 Metra harness and added the resistor and I was good to go.
