help- chime in on my PATS issue

I know it's not a GT, but I need as many eyes on this s197 PATS problem as I can, so please don't bash me.


I swapped a 5.4dohc into my 2007 Mustang using the 2007 GT500 pcm, engine harness and battery harness (that's it, no other harnesses or modules were swapped). Once everything was hooked up, I downloaded my start-up tune from a reputable tuner that was to disable PATS. All functions of the car work fine, including the fuel system pressurizing. I pushed in the clutch and turned the key and all the lights dim down, but no cranking. The trouble code B1601 (key not stored in PATS memory) indicates to me that PATS is active. What the heck?

Please help.

What does the lock in the IC does with the key on? Blinks?

Back in February a friend and I completed a 4.6 swap into an '07 chassis (v6 chassis). Like you describe, once everything was ready to crank over, nothing would happen upon turning the ignition. Turned out he had an extra security measure installed in his dash harness from the dealership - even PATS disabled in the tune didn't allow the key to work. We had to tow it to the dealership and get the ECU reprogrammed for the key.

Do you have anything extra security-wise?

danbev07, that's what I'm talking about! So I assume that everything was fine once the keys were programmed in?? These are the crazy experiences I want to hear about. I bought the car used and I didn't notice, but I will look to see if the security is upgraded. It is the Pony package with heated leather seats and Shaker 500 sound.

The fact that the lights dim and the padlocked car symbol flashes makes me think...PATS is alive!

Dealer programmed keys in and the thing started right up!

Strange as anything though, it was running with PATS enabled on the stock GT500 computer tune and NOT my expensive startup tune. What the heck?!?
