The CEL is on currently. I had the code pulled (p0196) and it leads to a high oil temp sensor. Oreilys did not have a part number or even lost a replacement for it. They also couldn’t tell me where this would be. I’ve read on the forums this is only on the 05 and 06 models. We purchased the car from a dealer who knew nothing about the car. It appears the engine was swapped. So my question is does any one know where and can you point me to the location of the sensor if it were to be there? And if not where would the connector be so I can see if there’s an issue there. Can it be commented out in a tune? The car runs perfect drove it 300 miles in varying speeds and climate. Any help would be great. New mustang family.

High oil temp is not specifically the issue.
The code says temp it is not within predicted range the PCM expects.
More specifically it isnt warm enough.
You need to check the engine temp vs oil temp with a scanner.
Questions:
Is the car slow to warm up? If so Stuck Thermostat may be the cause.
Use the IHS link given by stkjock.
And get a good reading scanner you can see live data with.
Will save you tons of money in the future.

I looked under the car and found that there was indeed a temp sensor there. There also is a bung and a plug in the pan. The issue is the sensor won’t fit into the hole in the pan. I’m going to see if my tuner can write it out. May try the resistor method too
