Hood struts?

I just bought a set of cdc hood struts, has anyone bought these and installed them? Is there any pitfalls to watch out for? I'm finding the instructions with some of these parts are usually missing a step or 2

Okay so I go to put the struts on today, get a couple of the engine things moved, put the bottom brackets on, no problem. I've down loaded the instructions, watched a video etc, this looks pretty staight forward... go to install the top bracket, they say take the top bolt out of the hood brace and loosen the bottom to slide the new bracket in, okay did that, look at the bracket the bottom hole isnt slotted,,, I'm thinking okay I will take the bottom bolt out, no problem, the new bracket doesn't lay flat against the hood! so that wont work...go to put the bolt back into the hood and they won't go in!!!!!!!! un believable... so looked like a few phone calls are in the works for tommorrow morning. why is it some of the easiest stuff is the hardest and what looks to be hard isn't?
