Horrible experience with CJ Pony Parts

I want to share my experience with CJ Pony Parts so other buyers make an informed decision.
After placing an order, my payment was voided, and I was instructed to resend payment via PayPal. I did exactly that, paying the full amount shown at checkout, which also matched the order confirmation email they sent me.
Less than one hour after sending payment, I emailed them clearly requesting to cancel a specific item from the order (not the entire order). Despite this, they:
  • Continued sending emails as if nothing was requested
  • Claimed later that they had "no record" of my cancellation request
  • Then said the order was already processed and could not be changed
This makes no sense given the extremely short timeframe between payment and my cancellation request, and the fact that they were still actively emailing me during that same period.
To make matters worse, after all this, they suddenly claimed there was an additional balance due, even though:
  • The cart total at checkout
  • The order confirmation email
  • And the amount I PayPaled
all matched exactly.
When I questioned the discrepancy, I received generic responses, policy copy-pastes, and deflection instead of a clear explanation. I was effectively forced into a situation where:
  • My cancellation requests were ignored
  • The order was pushed through anyway
  • I was asked to pay more money after the fact
Overall, this was a frustrating, exhausting, and poorly handled experience. The lack of accountability, contradictory responses, and sudden extra charges make it very hard to trust this company. I strongly advise thinking twice before ordering

Sorry about your bad experience, I found it a bit surprising as I have used CJ since they put up a warehouse in my city (really convenient for same day parts). Never really had a really great or really bad experience with them per say but I have always done my transactions on the phone.

Can't read your email pics, and I have a 32" monitor. I don't know if I ever did any business with CJ or not, but they were super popular back in the day. They have been around for decades. I always got the impression they were a legitimate, privately owned shop with a good reputation.

You, on the other hand, have been around for all of 2 minutes.

New member coming here to vent about CJ Pony? Seems odd for sure. What seems odd to me is that they voided a transaction and then asked for another transaction via pay pal. Either way they pay a transaction fee. Very Odd!

Why was your original payment method "voided" ?? I've never heard of them (CJ Pony, or any other internet/mail order company)
demanding that you use specifically PAYPAL

I’ve had some good dealings with CJ- getting parts required (here to Australia).

Though I also have had recent repeat frustrations getting informed items were out of stock AFTER my order was completed.

I wonder if out of stocks and supply continuity is building as a bigger issue to to politics/tariffs/etc?

I’ve had good and bad experiences with CJ. If your order doesn’t require anything special, they’re fine. If you ask them to price match and use a gift card, good luck. It took a half dozen emails to get them to price match a timing kit. In the end, I was satisfied because they matched it and I got my product, but it took more effort than it should have to get it completed.
