How to make my gas pedal lighter

Does anyone know how to make the gas pedal lighter? That is, make it easier to depress.

I'm sure you could open up the pedal assembly and make it lighter but why? Problem with making it too easy to move is that you will encounter driver induced oscillation of the throttle. Bumps and vibrations will cause you to move the pedal back and forth. Once you start this back and forth motion it can be compounded and or sustained due to having the pedal too light.

Find yourself about a half pound of magnets and attach them to the bottom of the throttle pedal. Or stick on tire weights.

And then be sure and get video of your test drive.

Good points if it is too light. This will probably require some trial and error if I can get a project started.

I think you all are over reacting here. If it takes off too easily then apply brakes, idle back to garage, and adjust.

So, any ideas on how to adjust the pedal?

Get a Bama tune, it will be the touchiest throttle you've even had! LOL

I do know it's an electronic signal, not a cable. The signal can be adjusted in your tune for faster or slower throttle response. There's a sending unit attached to the pedal that has an internal spring.

If you want less spring resistance then you can see if you can take apart the sending unit and bend or cut the return spring, but that seems like playing with fire.

I'm going to assume what you want is quicker ramp up on your throttle with less pedal movement. Talk to your tuner and have him doctor it up in your tune. That is the answer.

It is adjusted in the tune. If you already have it adjusted in the tune then you have all that can be done with it. Leave it alone or talk to your tuner and see if they can lighten it more.

Actually, I want the opposite. I want the same response to the pedal just applying less pressure on the pedal to get it.

Disassembling the pedal assembly may be the route to take. However, that not only sounds like not only a more complicated a task but also an unforgiving one. By that I mean there may be no reversing and modification unless the assembly is replaced with another one.

I just got back from a round trip 250 miles each way. About half the trip was on cruise control but half was manual. That gas pedal got a little heavy after a couple hours. That is why I want the same response, just a softer pedal. I plan more long distance trips. Make any sense now?

my last car cruise didnt work and I just sucked driving an entire distance by foot, did my ankle get sore? yes, but i didnt think about changing something that could backfire.

My jeep's cruise also doesnt work, but once again, i have no problem driving it for extended periods with only my foot to control.

in other words, it doesnt make sense
