How to: Raptor shift light install

PMP used to make a billet piece for installing a Raptor in that location, but they are hard to find. You basically swapped out the accessory plug for the mount and it looks like this installed...

I final hooked mine up today. I just hooked it to 12v source that's always hot. Will this run my battery down? Anyone know what color wire they tap into off the fuse box that's in the engine compartment?

I got mine almost ready except for the fuse they advice to install. I am confused about them saying that is advices to connect the red cable from the Shift light to a 12v on switch using an inline 1/4 amp fuse.

As far as i am aware there is not a 1/4 amp fuse for sale.

The smallest i know is .5 which is 1/2 amp. so i got it disconnected for now until i call them to verify the info.

Have my Christmas raptor and I'm ready to install. anyone got any good shots of where there's are mounted? thought about putting it in the driver side vent per the right up in this thread, but when I drive and shift, my left arm is up on the steering wheel and I can't see the vent through my arm. the other option I guess would be the vent to the right of the steering wheel, or mounted right on top of the steering wheel column, just in front of the gauges? Would love to find the pieces to mount it above the radio. PM me if you know where to find them or post pic's or where you have yours mounted. I know a couple of guys said they were going to post pic's, but I didn't see any in this thread, besides in the vent and in the powerpoint hole. thanks guys!

Damn thing is blinding at night though (it's blue) but I wouldn't have it any other way. Haven't hit the rev limiter since having it.

Mine is red. so you mounted it on the gauge trim, in front of the clear plastic, or is it mounted just behind the steering wheel? I could see how it might be a little blinding at night, just want to put it in a place that I can see it well, without it looking unfinished for show. Thanks for the Pic!

Yea, on the gauge trim. The black piece of plastic between the clear plastic for the gauges and the silver trim. Fits perfect there. And it pulls straight out so it's not hard to mount.

And you can put the different covers on it. I just leave mine open now.

I had the same difficulties trying to tap into a reliable synch signal. I tried the COPs, and both the crankshaft postive going and negative going.

It wasn't until I tapped into the RPM SIGNAL out coming out of the EEC that I had a stable signal that worked perfectly with both my raptor and my eBoost.

This RPM SIGNAL isn't marked in any schematic you'll find, but once I added a pin to the EEC connector using a pin from a 2001 mustang EEC wiring harness (it doesn't even have a pin there), and looked at the signal with an o-scope, I saw that it was perfect.

Haven't had a single problem since in any of my RPM accessories.

edit: i didn't realize i already posted about this in this thread, but this post is more detailed.

well, i guess that's my cue. i have the shift light with the built in launch light also. it worked pretty well for a while, but after about a year, my speedometer starting doing weird stuff, and the idle started hanging the way it does when the car is rolling to a stop, even though the car was sitting still. i at first thought it was the stepper motors, but i pulled the cluster and noted that i already had the updated motors. one thing led to another, and i decided to disconnect the speedometer sensor wire from the shift light that taps in to the harness up by the pcm.

that completely and permanently eliminated the problem. i spoke to raptor about it, and they were going to give me a new light, however i decided to install a launchmaster instead and didn't need the launch light rpm feature anyway, so i left it disconnected. in all other respects, the light works fine.
