So I'm in the process of pulling the trans for a clutch job, and the bolts that hold the driveshaft to the pinion flange are all coming out fairly soaked in grease. Is that normal or is my driveshaft done for?

Doesn't sound normal. Driveshaft could be fine. Those bolts probably aren't in great shape, possibly the holes they go into.

It doesn't seem right to me either. The bolts look fine and to my knowledge this is the first time the driveshaft has ever come out. The grease on the bolts is some foul smelling stuff too.

Nope I haven't lol there's a first time for everything I guess. I'll go finish pulling this shaft and see if I can find the source of this leak. I'm just hoping my driveshaft isn't trash

If your pinion flange seal is bad it, when the driveshaft is spinning it will sling gear oil around everywhere depending on how bad it's leaking.

Well it looks like my pinion seal is bad. However it's only leaking into the space between the pinion nut and the driveshaft. That's a relief.
