I don't think that engine is going to live too much longer.
Sure you can do it, doesn't make it a good idea.

I'm not saying the power is not true, I'm saying that thing is a ticking time bomb.
It says 550whp, 630hp or so at the crank.

The 3.7 has a forged crank and forged rods from the factory. MM&FF reported the forged crank in an article about the engine and the Ford spec sheet for the 2011 V6 says "forged steel" rods.

550hp is 100% believable and possible in my book. Blown 5.0's are making 700+ with a blower. 700/5.0 = 140hp/litre x 3.7 is 518 hp. Not that far off.

I dont doubt the power, but I just don't see how a stock v6 can handle that. If you keep reading, this guy is talking about pushing it well into the 600s on stock itnernals and even talking a 50 shot lol

I never caught on to why some choose to boost a V6. If you have that kind of cash to spend on all the mods, why not just buy the GT? Just doesnt add up to me.

Note: he has never raced it... waiting for the blown engine thread lol
anybody can make all that power on the dyno and never hit it again in the cars life and say that it handles it just fine.

why would ford forge the 3.7? lol

a v8 is a v8, will always be cooler than a v6 even with less power.

My guess is that coming years will see an ecoboost version of the engine with those internals.

The day Ford announces an EcoBoost 3.5 or 3.7 V6 Mustang, I will sign up to buy one as long as it is not more money than a V8.

I'd be very happy to give up 2 cylinders in exchange for having 90% of 420 ft-lbs available from 1500-5250 rpm. That means 378 ft-lbs or more across that entire rev range. Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!
