Also re-use factory gaskets and are you going with locking header bolts?? Not entirely necessary but good piece of mind. Make sure you have your O2 extenders also.

I appreciate it, I didn't know about that. This is the first new car I've ever owned, and haven't ever dealt with factory warranty issues.

No problem. So many people just hear what others tell them or what a dealership says just because they dont "want" you to mod the car for whatever lame reason.

By law you have every right to mod your car.
As long as they can't prove the mod you put on actually caused the damage you bring the car in for to be repaired under warranty... you are fine.

If you have trouble getting something repaired.
Just tell them:

1. you want the car back (that way you can take it to a mech to have the mech do an analysis and say what he thinks caused the problem)

2. Call the dealership back and tell them what the mech said, then tell them they are going to either have to repair the problem or PROVE the problem was caused by the mod you installed. Simple as that.
If they give you shit... tell them you will call the BBB and they will hear
from your attorney shortly.

Most dealerships will just cave in as soon as you mention the mag-moss
act thought.

Hell... MOST dealerships wont even give you shit about mods unless you have MAJOR ones like superchargers or turbos and end up with engine damage.

Well, day one, and a can of Skoal later, the stock parts are out. I'll be heading back to my work in the morning to start in putting the new ones in, and to clarify about the cuts and burns, I have 3 fingers left that weren't bleeding by the end of the day. Oh yeah, and one finger nail with a portion missing!!

I literally, just installed my Pypes LT's tonight with a buddy (thank god for car buddy's, definately takes 2 people, or makes it way easier.) Total time from jacking the car up to putting the car back on the ground was 4 hours (and 15 minutes, gotta eat sometime!) All together, it was absolute cake! I did take someones advice from the forum here and took out my battery tray, that made it soooo easy for the passenger side header.

Finished mine today. Two days, two cans of snuff, and it was all worth it. Those, CAI, and Brenspeed tune made a big difference. A 15mm ratcheting, pivoting box end that locks in place is well worth the $28! Another tip, for the O2 extension, is to reach the plug from top passenger side. Before the install, I loved the sound of my Magnaflow comp cat back, but without the cats now, I'm not sure I care for them. A bit raspy. It was a pain in the ass, but it sure does feel good after you finish installing a new mod yourself!

I did mine in about 10 hours over the course of three nights. Did it by myself
in the garage on stands. Ratcheting combination wrenches and $6 mechanics
gloves from Harbor Freight contributed to success and reduced damage to
my hands. Dynatech 1 3/4" & catted x-pipe sounds awesome with my
Magnaflow cat back and it sure does feel faster. Haven't been able to get to
the track to check it tho.... maybe soon.

Thats fast dude. Had you installed them before on a s197?

Never installed LT's on a S197 before, done plenty on the SN-95/New Edge 'stangs. The S197's are spoiled, there's really no fight at all. As far as why so fast; between already knowing the ropes of a LT install and the ridiculous ammount of clearance the S197 has, having all the right tools helps shit-tons. My buddy has a stock of Craftsman/Snap-on tools, swivel head ratcheting wrenches. Most of the install was done using a 13mm swivel head ratcheting wrench lol. I just hope these Percy "Seal for Good" gaskets are all people say they are. I've installed them on the SN-95's and had them leak on several installs. Never had any Ford OEM gasket leaks, as long as the aftermarket flange is up to snuff. First time I've strayed from OEM header gaskets on my own car, so I hope I don't regret it.

Actually started the car open headers. It's WTF loud, but oh so sick with the lope of the Comp Cams. I'll be welding the mid-pipe sections tomorrow once they're tacted up on the car, then it's waiting for my hood to get back from the paint shop monday, and Wednesday we'll see what it puts to the ground and get it dialed in.

I'd have to say the FRPP intake manifold and GT500 TB install was the hardest in this little project, especially compared to the headers. I didn't get the full BBR GT500 TB kit, and tonight I wished I had spent the extra $100 or so that I saved on not getting their full kit. It's no joke matching up the GT500 TB to the FRPP intake manifold. You can't just put new holes into that intake. Hafta hit the ones they give you, and it's pretty much a dead-nuts run. The BBR GT500 adapter is a beautiful piece, and looks spectacular mated to the FRPP intake, but I fought that TB getting the sleaves drilled just right. Wasn't worth the headache to save the cash though. Other than that, it was all cake.

Before you weld it I would run my hand down the entire exhaust to make sure you have a few inches of clearance. When I did mine, I only did a quick visual and failed to see the lack of clearance where the exhaust ran over the axle. Needless to say, it rattled every time I hit a bump.

Right on dude. This was my first header install and first for my friends helping. Huge learning curve and we did not have that 13mm flex head wrench. Hell I didn't even know what they were called before this site. I got a set now and love em.
I drove my car with just open headers to the welders shop.......so freaking stupid loud! Lol
It always feels good to successfully install your mods.

Did a set of pypes in 10-12 hours solo, on jackstands in the garage, over the course of 3 days as a first timer. Could probable do it solo again in 6-8 depending on how much trouble I had with the top starter bolt lol.

For sure bro, I don't weld shit 'til I'm happy with the fitment. Pipe is literally my career, lol. I do have a rattle pre-existing in the exhaust, but it's due to the D/S final exhaust hanger tapping on the rear chasis. Just been too lazy to drop it out and cut the fvcker a little shorter.

First time around is always slow going. When we did my cams, we jumped on it like we intended to take the timing cover and front half of the car off. When we got the intake manifold and valve covers off in a half hour, we realized we'd have to drink more beer to increase the difficulty level from "walk in the park" to "we might need to think a little." Nothing on the S197 has been "hard" so far. Some things are time consuming, but I wouldn't call time consuming "difficult" per-say, just stretches your patience. Beer, music, and friends talking shit about how slow your car is makes any car project easy, lol.

Let me know what the car ends up putting to the ground! (if you're getting dyno-tuned)
