Looking for a DIY on removing the bracket that is glued to the window, that holds the rear view mirror. I've got a homelink rear view mirror I purchased from Ford that the dealership says has the wrong size for the bracket on my window and I would have to replace it. They say they won't remove the bracket in case the window breaks.

Thanks.

I would try some goo-gone, or acetone or something to soften that adhesive strip. Once I could get it to wiggle a little I would twist it off parallel with the window with a pair of pliers or channel locks. I wouldn't try to pull it straight back or lever it off.

Super glue remover. Works perfect. Just put a few drops on top of the button and give it a few minutes. If need be, give it a few more drops. Walk away, and when you come back, it will have already dropped off of the glass.

Bring it down to Texas and leave it outside all day in the summer. When you come back for it your rear view mirror will be sitting nice and neat on your console. Trust me.

There's a little hole in the bottom where the mirror slides on the mount that's glued to the windshield. Take a small pocket type screwdriver and insert it into the hole. Gently pull the screwdriver towards you while pushing up on the mirror. It should come right off. Took me about 3 seconds once I figured out how to do it.
