But to answer the question.....yes, a 6" x 6" footer plate may be bolted through the floor and be legal.

I absolutely refuse to commit my personal safety to BOLTS for a roll bar.

That's why I am having a shop go behind me and weld in. Still get the savings of doing the install myself, just paying for someone to do the welding.

Is that for NMRA? I thought for NHRA the rear points have to be welded in.

Thats the next step. I have to have the rear points welded in from underneath to make them NHRA legal. Will be scheduling that one probably the week after next. I may also have the front two points welded in too for piece of mind.

Have the rules changed? Bolt in used to be legal provided you used the correct size and diameter of bottom plate with the specified bolt size and pattern.

I think he meant welding the back bars to the hoop. I just did my install last month & instructions say the rear bars must be welded to the hoop to make them legal. The rest of kit can be bolted.
