I was born in '76 so not really into gen 1. The 79-04's are buckboards compared to the s197. The 10-14 redesign makes it look less like a retro and I don't like the way the coyote sounds. I guess the body tweak was to try to fix slumping sales although the real issue was the 4.6 3v being underpowered vs the competition although a simple gear change and cai/tuner combo really woke it up.

So I might be stuck with 05-09 until I fall over lol. Not so bad. The Bullitt models are really sharp and if I ever gain an iota of self control I could try the GT500

Hope you lieked my story

The 08-09 S197s are the only retro-looking years I have a true liking of when it comes to the newest musclecar car generation. I respect the other years and admire many of the advancements in technology and power output, but in the end, I would only own an '08 or '09. And I would only buy a GT500 in those two years (which I did). My current GT500 will go with me to my grave. I am beyond the years of buying and selling cars to figure out what is better. I did that for 50 years. I have purchased my last musclecar.

The 05-09s continue to age like fine wine.

Analog enough to continue aging well, but updated enough to have a great chassis with most creature comforts you need.

The 4.6 3v is also just so much fun to mod, and still relatively cheap to own. And not to mention they are the best sounding mustangs:

Some days I think should I sell it and then I remember how much I spent on it so far and what it is actually worth. It will be the wife selling it someday for a poor price as I told lies about how much car parts cost from America.
Low mileage are still above 20k€ in Germany. One very soon day it will be very expensive to drive it and the price will drop like a stone.
Due to Russia sanctions from the EU, rockauto doesn't sell you any more parts anyway ;)
(no joke, customs wants a "part not build with russian steel" certificate which does not exist)

I like the pre-facelift S550 also.

Won't be long and the values on good clean ones will start going up. Most everyone on this forum is.....old. Well, older than they think they are!
This generation is already 21 years old. It's easy to think of them as just used cars, but in 90 I had a 70 fastback....it was 'just' 20 years old, too, but was starting to be considered a cool, collectable car. Once that happens, there will be folks wanting to put them back to original.

I had a 67 (sprint package) an a 70 Grande. Both had rotted frames. Of the former cars the 1970 was my fav. I love my '07 GT, and the retro look is very remeniscent of the 69-70 style bodies. I might get a later model pony, but I will hold onto the 2007 for as long as I can.

My GT has 105k on it but chassis is mint due to spending its life in the desert, Suspension is all changed/upgraded and the Engine got a totally rebuilt/refreshed last year. Interior is good and it really is great for a twenty year old Mustang. It will never reach the price I need for what I spent on it as its a limited market in my country and then there's the fuel price LOL. Only thing I'm still torn about is its an auto.

The 05-09 are my favorite as well, in regards to the newer stuff. Very happy with my Roush twins and the little runt of a GT.

I love my 07. I would like to think that I'd never sell it. But I also have the 70 vert I bought at the age of 15. That was in 1976. I'm at the point in life where I am forced to choose between the two. I guess the Shelby is going away....

Agreed, I really like my 'new' Mustang (07 GT). The styling is spot-on and the performance is good enough for me (though I do have a few mods, because, car guy). Speaking of being old... both my wife and I consider this to be 'one of those new roller cam Mustangs', even though it's 20yo. Between the two of us, we've owned a 66, 68 and 91. I regret selling each of them. Thankfully we're now at a point in life we can keep a fun/weekend car. I'm planning on my kids having to sell (or keep) this one.

Well Brothers; I think the 69 SCJ is the best looking Mustang ever made. I will never get mine running again so selling it and keeping my 07GT. It drives great, has all needed amenities, will continue to get faster and looks almost as good. Probably the best buy in mustangs. Its hard to justify any mods as car is enjoyable as is, just needs more hp. Appx same amount as a SC. Then the fuel. Then the tuning. Then transmission. Then????? Did I mention car is enjoyable now?
